Astrology Meets Tarot

seven-cups-reversed-tarot

We’ve all no doubt done it. That obsession, the “love” that you continue to pursue even though it’s killing you in a thousand ways, or just the insatiable drive to take a certain path regardless of your better judgment or the personal cost—these are all manifestations. We’re talking about the sometimes deep-seated drive to make pursue desires that may not be good for us.

Today’s Tarot is the Seven of Cups from the Tarot Nova, reversed. Associated with Venus in Scorpio, the card often refers to our secret (Scorpio) and deepest (Scorpio) desires (Venus). My keyword for this card is “temptation.” That vibe is more prominent in the traditional rendition, with the seven cups representing different choices, some harboring hidden danger.

This version particularly emphasizes balance. See how unstable this guy’s perch appears? Seeing this card reversed, I’d expect to see difficulty making balanced choices due to emotionality or deep-seated drives. Consistently, the Seven of Cups represents choices where some options may not be what they initially appear.

Sometimes, it’s something that seems small, but has bigger consequences. I LOVED sugar to the point of addiction. I used to get anxious if we had less than two boxes of Little Debbie’s in the fridge. It was slowly killing me, but I always said I didn’t care about my weight and wanted to be happy instead. I didn’t allow for the option of both making better choices and staying happy.

But many times, choices are bigger and have more immediate consequences. Are you making excuses, avoiding the facts, or taking an honest accounting? You can hope your husband stops hitting you or your wife stops cheating, but what reason is there to think that will happen? You can issue ultimatums, but are you prepared to follow up? You can curse the ex to your mutual offspring, but what’s it doing to the kid?

apple-biteTemptation is at hand. Know what you can live with versus what you cannot, what you can realistically expect from your choice versus what is just a function of the wishful thinking to rationalize acting on that drive.

When you see the Seven of Cups inverted, it’s a heads up to look at your deepest desires in the context of your decision making-process and make sure you have fully accounted for what’s really going on. If you choose to deny, project, avoid or ignore, you may end up with something very different than you’d like.

Even if you are trying to maintain integrity in your approach, beware emotional pulls that may throw off your thinking. So choose carefully, and give yourself whatever time you need to be certain you’ve thought through both your decision and the consequences.

Are you tempted to do something you probably shouldn’t? How are you dealing with it?

Hi Dixie,

I’m tempted to tell somebody off but doing so would only wind up hurting them–and–in the end, hurting me too.

I can choose what I will and will not do but the drive or desire to do differently, remains. What I don’t often notice is that the hidden dangers of doing something impulsive, at least I don’t notice the penalties for doing what I want right away. I have to think it through. And, fortunately for me, I do usually pause before I do something I will regret later.

But now I see a different problem looming on the horizon. If I always think it through then I don’t always have the time to initiate the actions required to obtain a reasonable outcome. In other words, I’m slow to act and that can cause me some heart ache too.

I just had an AHA! moment. When in doubt, ask tarot! YAY!

Enjoy your morning, Dixie and…

Be Blessed!!

Awwww. Can’t say I blame you diastella, but it’s definitely smart to make your decisions while considering the consequences.
