Dixie’s Daily Tarot, November 5, 2010: Earning Lucky Breaks

Astrology Meets Tarot

Some people are naturally lucky. Others seem to work for all the breaks they get. I certainly welcome those unexpected strokes of luck that come my way from time to time, but find the other brand of luck is a whole lot more reliable. I recommend acting in concert with your wishes to benefit from the most luck, since those breaks are a lot more dependable when the other kinds is in short supply.

Today’s Tarot is the Nine of Cups, often referred to as “the Wish Card.” This is one of those cards everybody loves to see, because it points to wishes fulfilled and emotional satisfaction with the outcome.  Associated with Jupiter in Pisces, this card points to luck (Jupiter) in fulfilling your dreams (Pisces). Nines in Tarot mean you’re approaching the end of a cycle or event. You’re almost home!

This is a good card to examine for it’s clear symbolism. Note all the yellow in the background. The gentleman here is getting his wishes fulfilled for sure, but chances are it wasn’t  sheer luck that got him there. Luck favors those that act in concert with opportunity, after all. The yellow indicates rational thought, reasoning and intellect. In other words, he used his brain to figure out how to get where he wanted to go.

And looking at his clothing—he has a blue and white striped outer garment. Blue is associated with water, and therefore the emotions and intuition. White is purity and innocence. So here, I see a man who lives with a pure heart. His undergarment is also blue, so he’s probably in good touch with his emotions.

And his hat: Red is associated with fire—passion, ambition, and assertiveness. Red on his head, it describes how he thinks. He also has on red socks and yellow shoes—his ambition helps to move him, taking rational (yellow) steps to reach his goals, perhaps? His feet are firmly planted on the ground, and he sits on a solid, wood stool. He is firmly grounded.

So putting this all together, we’ve got a guy who is very lucky, by virtue of taking advantage of opportunities and taking logical steps towards fulfilling his hearts’ desires. It’s paid off for him, and I think he has a right to sit back and enjoy it. He earned his luck, from what I can see. The message from the Nine of Cups is that you’re indeed getting lucky, because you’ve earned it, too.

How’s your luck? Can you tie it to your Jupiter?

I see Jupiter as the benevolent giver of luck. But not just good luck but bad luck as well. And the Nine of cups speaks VOLUMES to me about my magic.

First off, this “gypsy wish card” is unrelenting. For me, good fortune doesn’t smile on me once in a while, it’s a constant flow. Of course it’s either flowing good luck or bad, depending on the cycle I’m in at the time. If it’s good, then I ride the wave like a surferboy. However, sometimes the wave is “bad”. So I use my magic and plan accordingly.
I use “reverse psychology” on the wave and turn a bad thing into good (i.e. the lemonade theory).

Yuup, this card has oodles and oodles of surprises. And if one is ready for the wave and if one can learn to surf the cycles, then this wave is narly dude!

Great read, Dixie!!

Be Blessed!!

I believe my luck is tied to Jupiter the teacher aspect.
I find that if I look at life as lessons that I need to evolve… its easier to flow into synchronicity. And this is where luck lives as far as Im concerned. :)

This card has been popping up quite a bit… hmmm hoping it’s the “good” kind of luck ;) but if not… guess I will just have to work with what I have and Make the best of it, yes please.. I love lemonade! ;)

I love the way you described all the color symbolism in this card!

I can definately relate to this card’s kind of luck! I’ve actually got Jupiter in Pisces in my Natal chart, but I’m always the big looser when we go gambling at the casino… not my brand of luck! It’s more like ‘always landing on your feet’ kind of luck, if that makes sense…

Amazing I have Jupiter in Sadge and consider myself to be lucky (or maybe just overly optimistic) but whenever I get lucky I always attributed to my Grandfather (who I never met) just being on my side. I looked up his astrology chart out of curiosity just now and found he had Jupiter in Sadge too! =)

Good card for me to see – I already caught a lucky break this morning and it’s not even 10 a.m.! But it was a break I put energy behind in advance so it fit right into one of my favorite saying: “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”

I’m Jupiter in Gemini – detrimental but I’ve learned to work with it pretty well and am always prodding it to go further, go bigger and bring me that fortune, LOL!

Dixie this reading is great! I can really relate to this kind of luck. Lately, I have realized just what you say, that you can use the luck you have in a more purposeful manner. That is what I intend to do in this new life.
Carrie I have Jupiter in Pices as well, trine saturn….I always land on my feet too.

KE, Traditionally this card is definitely associated with the good kind of luck. Like everything in Tarot, individual practitioners often have their own spin, but I would expect positive outcomes when I see this one come up. :)
