Hmmn, Mercury in Libra by Nota

Planets in Placements

I’ve read accounts of Mercury in Libra as nicey-nice wafflers who want nothing more than to smooth out arguments and keep the peace.  I’m going to have to disagree.

If Mercury in Libra tries to mediate your argument it has nothing to do with wanting everyone to get along.  No, this Mercury is thinking “Hot damn, a debate! How can I get in on the disagreeing without taking a side that’s already taken…I know…I’ll disagree with the argument itself.”  See, making peace is an opposing reaction to the whole thing.  Trust me, as soon as everyone is all settled down, guess who’s gonna pop up with something polarizing like  ”How ’bout those gun laws?”

Don’t get Mercury in Libra wrong.  These people aren’t rabble rousers looking to stir up hostilities.  It’s just that understanding conflicting points of view is deliciously stimulating for these minds.  Entertaining an idea that they themselves do not hold is an enjoyable exercise in abstraction.  If they see a position left undefended, they will take it up.  This leads some people to the assumption that Libra in Mercury people have no solid opinions of their own.  Actually their opinions are painstakingly reasoned out. Another reason they take up opposing positions is to sharpen their own point of view as in know thy enemy.

Remember, Libra is a cardinal sign.  A leader.  This Mercury has a mastermind quality.  If the expression comes across as pleasant, it isn’t for fear of conflict.  Libra is pleasant as a management tactic. You know, more flies with honey.  Libra can just as easily become unpleasant if it rallies the troops.

I knew I liked Simon for a reason. Mercury in Libra — yep. I have it. I am this way. Even though I read through this post trying to figure out an opposing viewpoint to it, I could not. :P It is true!! LOL!

beth, this was written by nota:)

I’m not sure I know anyone with this placement, probably one of the trillion Libras I work with have it (is that why they argue so much? LOL)

Let’s see,my husband has sun and mercury cojunct in Libra.I like to jokingly refer to him as being a “Liebra”!As in waffling the truth.I think he likes to keep it pretty, and stress free.he doesn’t enjoy verbal debate when it comes to discussing bills and various other personal problems. He does tend to go off on rants in general,”bad” drivers,poltical/police corruption etc.of course his saturn is opposite the cojunction.Sitting on my mars and opposing my mercury.Do we see eye to eye?Hell no!i do not wish to offend any Libras out there. This assesment is only directed at him,and how it plays out in the context of our rlationship.

Mercury in Libra? Usually not music to my ears (although there are exceptions). My Mercury in Cancer does the supporty thing which squares the debatey thing.

This is so true! Simon Cowell is the perfect example of mercury in Libra- Libra is definitely not all flowers and roses, they are supreme and master debators! Yet they do it in such a calm, rational, and indiscreetly confrontational manner, you almost dont even recognize it until the conversation is over! then, after reflecting, you realize how complicated and strategic their arguments are! But I do love those Libras! I have mercury in virgo, so I generally give them a run for their money! check out my new blog also on astrology, where there is lots of information on the different signs.

That’s quite interesting because I would never have considered Simon Cowell to be very Libran, but now that I think of it, when I watch him critique he often uses extreme comparatives, no examples come to mind at the moment though lol.

Balancing my ABCs
Takes from noon to half past three.
I don’t have time to grab a T
Or even stop to take a P.
