Saturn In Libra: Working For Balance

October 24th, 2010 @ 8:55 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

Most of you know I am a long time gym rat but I quit. I’ve not been to the gym for 9 months, solid and was going only sporadically some some months prior and the result of this is I have gained almost exactly one pound per month.

I’ve been aware of this but not worried about it for a few reasons. First I’ve been worried about other things like this blog, or court or whatever but another think that has had a major impact is my husband prefers heavier women.  I am pretty sure I could gain 50 pounds and he’d not bat an eye. Gain 60 and he might think I need to lose a pound or two.  ::smiles::

Now personally, I would never be comfortable carrying around that much weight and I’d know because I have been that heavy not once in my life, but twice and it does not suit me.  As of today I went back to the gym as it’s become obvious to me I am just not going to keep my weight down without exercise and also my life is to focused on work.

Being a Capricorn rising, Saturn rules my chart and it is no surprise I worked like a banshee with Saturn in Virgo but now I have to find some balance.  I have hired people to do things on this blog for the express purpose of freeing up time for myself so now I’ll got to take advantage of that.  Share the burden or the work with other (Saturn in Libra).

Saturn is transiting my 9th (publishing) which I feel represents this blog. It’s a broadcast but the 9th house also rules sport.  Back in the gym today, I am also committed to adjusting my workout for my age (Saturn). Typically, I would hop on the cross-trainer and work out on level 20. I have various moves on the thing – I really have mastered this piece of equipment but now I intend to work out on level 14 and level 6 for my fancy stuff which used to be managed on level 12.  I feel this is sane.

I have always liked going to the gym.  With Mars conjunct Mercury, I think well when I exert myself and I look forward to thinking with my brain on exercise again.  But also as a Capricorn, I look ahead and fact is, eventually Saturn will make it to my 10th house. At that time I will become more visible one way or the other so I did the math.  1 pound per month, roughly 20 months = 20 # weight gain on top the 10 I am already carrying and you know what?  I am too old to carry that around all day and so this…

What are you working to balance in your life?

Wow – this is timely. I just started getting seriously back into working out (cardio/pilates/yoga) last week after a work-blizzard hiatus of several months. And I honestly feel SO much better and totally more balanced; I have quite a bit of earth in my chart and have come to realize that if I get out of touch with my physical self, my whole self suffers. I’ve been physically active my whole life and it’s just a major part of how I need to live, I’ve come to realize. Big area of importance for me in keeping the overall balance!

i skipped the gym all last week. i’m finding it impossible to balance gym, new baby, career, personal interests, time with my husband, housework, and social life. moon in scorpio i can tell you that social life is the first to go! but that still doesn’t leave room for everything else… i am committed to the gym all week next week though!

Saturn has been trasitting my 11th house and so my focus has been to create more of a balance between being independent (solo) and working with others (groups). One of the ways I’ve done this recently is by working here behind the scenes ‘with’ Elsa, Dixie and Nota.

I also feel I need to be more ‘visable’. Being a web designer allows me to be pretty isolated (which I like), but with Saturn’s transit, I’m feeling that I need to put myself ‘out there’ more… So, I’m drafting a newletter to send out to all my clients. This may not sound like a huge step to most people, but for this private Scorpio, it’s almost painful. I’ve created countless newsletters for my clients, but have only sent my own, ONE time in 12 years.

My N.Node is in the 10th, so it’s liking this shift as well…

With Saturn transiting my 1st house, I am working on figuring out what I want as opposed to what the other wants. This is what needs to be brought into balance. With Saturn in Virgo transiting my 12th house, I spent an unbalanced amount of time serving others. It totally diffused my energy. I was over-serving. Now I am hoping to weigh things as an adult. This is the first time in my life that Saturn has crossed my Ascendant, so it’s actually a huge deal! It’s very hard, but of course things are coming slowly and with time. :)

Better to work to be on track than bear the wrath of Saturn in my humble opinion! I mean, who wants this?

I’ve begun looking on dog rescue boards as I know I’m never going to get enough exercise if I don’t get another dog, and besides I could do with the lurve. The thought of vets’ bills scares me though. Going for walks on my own without a dog just makes me miss my last dog all the more

Free swimming for pensioners has just been discontinued due to budget cuts, which is annoying – not that I used the facility much, as the nearest pool is a 12 mile round trip; but it was nice to have the option

Elsa, this is a very interesting post!

I stopped going to the gym when my summer vacation started and didn’t get back to it. I got some pounds since then… and I think my boyfriend doesn’t like it. Your post is really motivating, I am starting gym tomorrow!

Thanks!

Saturn transiting the 2nd- after an income drought that lasted a year and a half, I am learning how to take care of the people in my life on a pretty small paycheck, dealing with not having the income I had in years previous, looking for sales, buying in bulk, becoming a budget warrior in general…and not complaining about it. I am trying to conquer a fear of poverty by being close enough to ‘look it in the face’. Things are getting better……..s….l…o….w…l…….y, of course.

Kudos to you Gym Rats…. you’ve allot more courage than I.

Personally, I hate all things about the gym. Probably just me, it really sucks when you’re trying to operate one of those damn machines…. and a smoking hot babe is within eyesight.
*Sighs* Proper concentration just aint gonna happen!!

P.S.
She doesn’t have to be a perfect hourglass figure, either! I hate Gyms.

As a dancer my whole life is about working out! I wouldn’t go near a gym if my life depended on it and I still dance for myself and a bit of teaching. I’m actually working against my body when I work out now so less is more for me. I went back to work at my second job choice for more balance in my life and less working out for me! Balance is something I’ve had to master though with a grand cross in my chart. I’d say I am a tight rope walker now because of my chart! When you have a grand trine telling you to tip the scales of your grand cross you learn balance first and the rest is easy.
Then again, that’s a whole article!

I’ll be doing the gym for three weeks this monday. I love it, I go three times a week, for two hours (two classes) and I must say, that it really is helpful when it comes to thoughts and present worries. I helps me avoid thinking! Sometimse, I just don’t want to think, so I work out, to music, and zone out.

I’d like to balance out my love life, because it stinks. My sister thinks I may be expecting too much. But I think I expect the norm.

Lucky you, Elsa. My long term partner is very weight conscious and is always pointing out to me which starlet has a fat ass.

He watches what I eat as in, “You know, that pasta is only going to turn to sugar which then turns to fat.”

So I’m constantly vigilant. An astrologer told me that because his Venus is Capricorn he likes bony woman.

But I can’t complain too much – he cooks healthy for me and has really cleaned up my act.

Yeah, I used to be with a man like than, Lakshmi and benefited similarly. Having gone from that to this, I prefer this.

It’s just easier to live when unconcerned about +/- 5 or 10 pounds. It took up way too much space in my head and I feel more well-rounded now (in all ways).

I put on 10 lbs. this summer and it isn’t me. I tried a gym once and hated it. I think I’ll just go back to yoga and weight training.

Work vs. Play
Structure vs. Expansion
More balanced communication

Also, like Carie, I feel a need to be more public, which simultaneously serves my Leo. Saturn is transiting the 10th, and Pluto is in aspect to my ASC, supporting change and removal of rigid structures.

good for you!
I’m hoping to go diversify my exercise routine. I cycle/walk but that’s about it. I just ran into a gal I know who likes to swim/sauna and I’m going to email her and try and make it a regular thing…thanks for the post.

Very timely Elsa. Little voice been telling me get off my duff. My mind wont turn off even when I try to go to bed and today I went shopping. I’ve only gained a couple punds since starting school but my ass is soft and lumpy and I dont even want to talk about my thighs. When you said your saturn ruled I transpossed Mercury ruled automatically and saw my chart. Thank you and you KNOW what I mean :) god here comes the damn tears I have had a hell of a time with them today. GOT TO figure in the gym or a hike a few days a week somewhere.

I am feeling like giving less to others and more to myself..but it’s hard to balanace because my Moon in Virgo WANTS to give to others but my Mars in Scorpio conj. the now transiting sun on my sun, has been making me feel like I just want to isolate and get deeper into what I want, need and where I am going.

Saturn trine Sun & Mars is pushing the envelop for me to step up and be all I can be! As it works its way thru my 10th house I feel I’m at the right place in the right time to finally get the things I want professionally and personally. ;)
