Astrology And The US Midterm Elections: November 2, 2010
My eye on the sky
I am not a mundane astrologer but I am very interested in trends and the collective mood and the like. Traditionally, an astrologer would look at the chart on election day to call the results. They may have a lot of success with their method but it ‘s faulty from my perspective simply because so many people vote early.
The idea is that the chart would show the leanings on the day people pull the lever or push a button. These days we lick stamps, days in advance or we drive to designated locations to drop off our ballots so I think this limits the usefulness of the transits on election day. I do think we can gain insight by looking at the charts on the days after the election, though.
On November 3rd, the Moon is conjunct Saturn in Libra and there are no oppositions in the sky. This sounds like a solid consensus to me, favoring the conservative side.
I say “consensus” because the chart does not show the polarization we’ve all struggled under with Saturn opposing Uranus for many months. I say, conservative because in mundane astrology, the Moon signifies the public and it seems impossible the Moon’s conjunction Saturn the day after an election would signify anything but.
Anyone else want to weigh in on this topic?

I see cold reality and public (Moon) commitment (Saturn) to fiscal (Venus) responsibility (Saturn)… also perhaps a commitment (Saturn) to defend/protect (Saturn) the homeland (moon).
Some wake to cold depression (Saturn Moon). Also, this is deep – Pluto is involved.
Security fears…
sure is a lot of water in the sky that day
I say “consensus” because the chart does not show the polarization we’ve all struggled under with Saturn opposing Uranus for many months.
I’m going to respectfully disagree.
If I can choose a chart after election day, I could choose any old chart. I could, for instance, choose a chart for a cap moon and that would indicate a conservative consensus.
On November 3rd, the Moon is conjunct Saturn in Libra and there are no oppositions in the sky.
If it was the Moon in Cap conjoining Saturn in Capricorn, I would agree. In Libra is a different matter – I wouldn’t read Libra as a conservative sign. It’s the sign of balance, which I would take to mean ideologically centrist perhaps. The actual close of election chart for the east coast has Moon in Virgo @26Virgo three degrees past the opposition to Jupiter and one degree past the quincunx to Neptune. Then the moon comes to an opposition with Uranus @ around 8:40 PM EDT followed by multihour void that ends at 1:20 AM EST (10:20 AM PDT). Then we have the square to pluto at @7:00 AM, and finally we’ve got the square to the nodes @10 AM and then finally we get the conjunction to Saturn at 8:45 PM.
I read that as over-optimism in the afternoon of election day, turning into delusion (and it affects both sides, not just one, since this is the moon) for a couple of hours. The polls then start closing on the east coast, and then there is a sharp outbreak of bickering at 8:40 (too early to declare victory for anyone). I’d also bet someone will threaten secession or violence of some sort onair at one of the networks. The entire period will be seriously nitpicky about voting to boot. Then we have the void as a bunch of contested races remain up in the air until late at night, when the moon moves into Libra. At that point people will be trying to balance things out, which means we got no victory here. That’s followed by the squares early in the morning, and then the public settles into depression on Wednesday night. Since *everyone* will tend be depressed, and they’ll tend to be depressed in the sign of balance that that’s the point that everyone realizes nobody won. And by nobody won, I mean, that probably the Republicans will take the House but not the Senate (John Coryn agreed with that assessment on the Sunday talk shows – he called talking the Senate ‘a two-cycle process’). With Saturn involved, everything is going to be muted, but fair, so anyone claiming outright victory is going to get their head chopped off.
That applies to the Democrats too, some of whom will be tempted (by the square to Pluto?) to declare that since the Republicans didn’t win outright, that they won, which obvioucly, they won’t have. Meantime Fox will no doubt be proclaiming victory as well, which has the problem of being inclusive of the Senate (or the Presidency either).
That’s the reason I see depression, since if it amounts to a tie we then settle down for two years of Saturn in Libra scrupulous trench warfare, with the President and the Senate balancing out the House. And I don’t think the upcoming Pluto-Uranus square indicates consensus either.
So I don’t think polarization is over by any means, since it’s been going on for a long time. The end of the Saturn-Uranus aspect might very well mean the end of the Tea Party as a ‘revolutionary’ force, since the Republicans in the House will want to keep them on a leash. Alternatively, they may simply be spent as a force.

['Sorry to disagree.']
No problem on the disagreeing, max, we’re not that far apart. For me, the election swinging towards the conservative side will equal balance.
Not sure about the entrenched thing. Your argument is compelling but I think the reality of the money (being limited) has hit home (around the world) now and there is agreement the spending must stop… slow dramatically, you know what I mean.
I like your reading, and love that there are no oppositions in that chart.
But the first thing that comes to my mind with moon conjunct Saturn is that the collective gets massively depressed right after the election. The see quickly nothing was solved, and resignation about the state of our country begins to set down deep in earnest.
Hey, I posted that comment above before I read this thread. I see Max has already put forth the collective depression idea. I don’t think people are growing up fast enough for these times. They want things solved, and there’s a lot of rage, but little personal responsibility about how we got here. Without some real optimism, how are we going to get the innovation and ideas we need to get out of this?
Bad words, Webster, you’re right.
I meant to say that I agree with the recent polling. The country will in fact move decidedly in a conservative direction and we’ll wake up November 3rd to this reality. The consensus being people feel we’ve swung out too far in one direction, so now we’ll swing back.
I also agree with collective depression and have said so from the minute Pluto hit Capricorn because I think in terms of a natural chart. Security fears and such – and with good reason.
Yep! I feel weak just thinking what we’re in for in the next few years…. Not over by a long shot, it seems. And Pluto in Cap is transiting the first house of the US’s chart, too (if you take that chart to be Sag rising, which there’s some debate about)…
Security fears. ::eek!:: I can relate.
Well they are killing 1/2 million government jobs in the UK and I don’t see how people think this can’t happen here when the government has no money to pay people.
These jobs are supposed to be safe just the the pensions people in the private sector have seen wiped out.
I am not going to be the least bit surprised if there is not one there to teach my kid or whatever else I have taken for granted in the past.
Be nice if we could avoid a war – very iffy with Jupiter and Uranus poised to enter Aries in hard aspect to Pluto. There is certainly no *real* reason to feel safe at the moment however I feel quite good. I mean, I am vitally alive, got all my limbs, a man who loves me, kids. It’s enough.
Historically speaking people have been through all kinds of horror – why should I be fortunate enough to avoid similar? No reason I can think of.
I just do my best and beyond that – well that’s all I’ve got. I’m tapioca, as an old lady I used to know like to say.
I feel bad for younger people who (not that I am real old or anything) will probably miss out on great things like a good economy, small business, privacy, original thinking, being left the hell alone, etc.
I feel sorry for my son who I believe owes $43,000 at this point and he’s 11 years old.
He can’t pay. He’ll either be owned or fight a war.
It’s my 2 cents worth that election day is still the time to cast the chart. The votes are not counted until election day, no matter if some people are voting early. The coverage is on all the major networks as the results come in. I think it’s the time to cast a chart for results.
I don’t see spending as out of control, as spending seems to be done almost entirely for the benefit of the very wealthy and the corporations, since Pluto is throwing it’s weight around. So many people being unaware of this is just indicative of how the corporations have gained control over the media. I’m still waiting for the FDR moment, but looks look we may get the American Revolution Revised movement. Whether it will be for the benefit of the corporatists or We the People has yet to be seen, but I think history is on our side.
4 represents the congress Moon represents change. We will go through the group which would be required on the NCGR-PAA exams for level 3.
Let see almost Full moon on 4/10 for fall Equinox says change in party rulership
Libra New Moon Mercury conj Saturn in 8 says change in Legislature. (weird I know but from a Vedic book) New Moon conjunct USA Saturn (public looking for something new)
Scorpio New Moon sitting on 4th house cusp and Mercury and Mars in 4 Happy about change
Neptune stationed and conjunct USA Moon along with Chiron. Public emerging from fog of deceit. Applying Saturn Return means reassessment of goals. USA South node conjunct Venus.
USA solar return has Moon in 10. Change in leadership.
There you go my prediction 100 new Congressmen, 20 new Senators. How’s that for fearless. record turnout required.

Interesting. While I still struggle with understanding all the possible things each sign can stand for (be interpreted as) , this placement is fascinating.
I follow politics….. mostly from the Conservative viewpoint. This makes me in the very small minority on this Blog. That’s ok , everyone has their views on morality & ethics…. and I’ll defend that to the hilt.
Anyway…. I only hope that those who wins uses the next 2-yrs to start cutting massively the physical size of the US. Government….. and cutting the items in the Budget that’s been added in the last 30+ years. “It’s for the children” be damned.
My opinion , such as it is.
