Dixie’s Daily Tarot, September 25, 2010: Being Ready for the Ship to Come In

Astrology Meets Tarot

IMG_0216I was talking to a mentor of mine, about my path. You know—spiritual journey, soul journey, whatever you wanna call it. The vocabulary is incidental to me, beyond the fact we’re talking about all that woo-woo stuff that make people think you’re nuts if they ain’t so much into it. Fortunately, I’m accustomed to people thinking I’m nuts and can erase it. Thank Neptune! Otherwise, I’d be so self-conscious I don’t know how I could function.

"Am not always sure I’m doing it right, but will keep the faith I’ll get what I need to grow," I told her.

Today’s Tarot is the Three of Wands. This card is associated with Sun in Aries, and threes are the number of creativity—birthing. This fellow is waiting for his ship to come in, but it’s not so passive as it may first appear. He knows he has a ship out there specifically because he took action to arrange for the voyage. You’ll often see this card when your investments are preparing to pay off. Commonly business pursuits are involved, but always look to the context of the card and listen to your intuition . Sometimes people even get this card when packages are about to arrive in the mail, too—shipping, see?

My friend tells me this is a very powerful prayer—asking Spirit for the next step you need to grow. This idea very well represents the Three of Wands energy. There’s a seeking involved here; action up to this point is part of the picture, as is alertness. We’re looking at actively investing energy into creating the circumstances in which the ship is to arrive and an ongoing attention toward the water, focusing our energy toward the goal.

People wait sometimes, for their problems to resolve and wishes to manifest. Maybe that love will materialize if they visualize the perfect partner. Maybe that job will come if they think positive thoughts about getting it. The house, the peace, the friendships, the happiness people are looking for all can be so elusive. The question here is what have you done to get what you want? Our Aries friends take action! While they could perhaps benefit from a helping of others’ patience, we may benefit from a share of their initiative, going for what we want.

If I want to be a better Tarot reader (and I always do and will), I’d better study! I’d better be on the lookout for new opportunities to grow, learn and improve. I’d better be willing to back up my wishes with action inspired by those visions. Otherwise, it’s all so much wishful thinking, no more productive than endlessly mulling over a laundry list of what-if’s.

We live in the physical plane, albeit with a foot in the spiritual. To bridge the two, you start by shooting the intent out there, but always remaining prepared to take action on the signs you see coming in response. The Three of Wands reminds us we don’t want to be napping when that ship arrives, or just standing on the hill, timidly wondering if it’s really "the" ship or not.  If it looks like your ship, go on down to the dock and take a look around. No telling what you’re going to find in the cargo.

How are you about taking action on achieving your goals? What’s your Mars like?

Dixie,

I totally agree with you on this one. Many times people will try something that doesn’t work the first time they try it so they keep trying it in hopes that it will, at some point, work. But the definition of insanity is: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Here’s the model from Brief Psychotherapy to fix all that:

If what you are doing WORKS do more of it. AND
If what you are doing does NOT work, STOP doing that and do something different.

It’s basic problem solving 101! YEAH!

I hope this really helps people.

All my best,

My Mars is in Leo in the 12th house. What does that mean…I’m new to astrology.

I have always been a natural with astrology. I have studied the tarot even longer, but can not even touch your level of understanding. I am getting great insight! Love it!

Cups are about emotions and dreamin’.

Wands are about taking action to manifest your vision!

Thank you, folks.

Maureen, I am the same with Astrology. I study and have learned a lot from hanging around those who are very good at it, but I can’t turn a chart into music like the astrologers here. Tarot comes much more easily to me.

DharmicDrummer, I would guess you’d have to watch how your action (Mars) interplays with your subconscious realms(12th house). That Leo placement would probably give a certain boldness, but moves may get diluted/confused because of the 12th house position.

I’m the same way too. I love astrology but I don’t know that much about it, just what I’ve learned from tarot so far. I know more about tarot.

Blessings

This keeps happening–its the same card I drew for today, although mine was reversed. Synchronicity anyone?
