Working on Balance During Saturn in Libra by Nota
Notes for the Current Sky
I just switched my mouse to the left side. It was long overdue. The other night in yoga when my teacher instructed us to interlock our fingers and stretch up, my right wrist started making popcorn. My awareness went into my wrist and I realized that I had been putting a very unfair strain on just that one. Why would I favor my right side unto its detriment when I’ve got a perfectly good hand on the other side just slacking off?
The answer is laziness. I am accustomed to using my right hand to navigate my desktop. It feels easier. It feels faster. But what if I continue to push myself in this lopsided manner. Eventually my body will force me to slow down against my will. My wrist will start to hurt. The side that I favored for its effectiveness and speed will start to grind down like an old jalopy. So I made the decision to slow myself down. No big deal, I just picked up my mouse pad and stuck it on the other side of my keyboard and pulled the mouse over there with it. At first, I felt frustrated. My left hand was not as obedient as my right. It would slip past my target too fast. My finger would lag on those double clicks leaving me wondering where my window was. “Hello, I clicked you! Oh , I guess I didn’t.” But now I’m getting the hang of it. Still not as fast, but definitely relieved. My right wrist has thanked me for putting in the effort to seek balance.
This is just one example. We suffer imbalances out of habit all over the place. We favor one foot when we walk.  We ask to talk to Mom on the phone rather than Dad because shes easier to chat with. We read one kind of story over and over again because it is familiar and satisfying rather than broaden our horizons. We eat toaster pastries and an orange juice for breakfast instead of going to the trouble to make something more alkaline. We don’t know what day the trash gets picked up because our partner always takes out the trash and we do the dishes just because that’s the arrangement.  And here’s the kicker: We look at relationships during Saturn in Libra because relationships are more exciting and fun than adjusting all these other mundane parts of our lives.
Can you identify an imbalance in your life that you have avoided because it would be WORK to correct it?

I’m an “all or nothing” type person which initially seems like a lot of work but it’s actually more difficult for me to be moderate. I’ve had a couple of people tell me I need to be more balanced lately: in my reactions (crisis mode or detached), killing myself at the gym or not going at all…..
Great post! Although I think your dishes/trash tradeoff is pretty well balanced.
When one person does it all, they call that imbalance too.
Just curious…what would be considered a more alkaline breakfast?
I’m no nutritionist but something with less refined sugar. That WAS an oddly specific example. Mercury is direct in Virgo. I don’t know about you, I’m doing that a lot, being oddly specific I mean.
oh man…i should probably switch off too. just the thought of moving my mouse over to the other side makes me kind of anxious…
buckwheat toast with lemon marmalade made from honey.
I pulled that out of a hat that normally has a rabbit in it. Lemme know how far off I am.
Very thought provoking post, now I’ll be thinking abut this all the time! Which is exciting (to switch up), but theres definitely a bit of anxiety there. I just switch my mouse-hand, while its actually not that hard, the anxiety of keeping it up is there. But thats probably just transiting pluto smacking around my 12th house neptune+mercury. I shall focus its novelty! Says aqua moon. =P
*on its novelty.
ugh, hate making typos!
I’m trying to learn how to do things with my non-dominant hand, in general, since my shoulder is messed up on the dominant side. Man it sucks. Plus, I keep forgetting.
I’ve been thinking about this lately, all the time! Saturn in Libra, natally too :O
I spend a lot of time behind the computer, and lately in my Yoga classes I can feel that my right and left halves of the body are different. The left half doesn’t stretch nearly as much as the right one and the right one is stronger. I think it also has to do with sitting, one leg over the other one (don’t know how to properly explain it in English, I guess you know what I mean). The muscles are in cramped positions and over time, the effect accumulates.
Thanks so much for this post, Nota! I will try it. Maybe at home at first and not at work where I have to type fast. But it might actually help me. This was brilliant, and the timing was perfect.
Neat that handedness is brought up with Saturn in Libra! My natal chart holds Saturn in Libra (in a stellium with Pluto and Mercury) and I am ambidextrous. I’ll even switch hands throughout the day with all sorts of tasks, and don’t really dominate certain tasks with a certain hand. It’s pretty ‘handy’ hurrr hurrr hurr!
Extremes can create a balance as well though!

yes, the way I mount my bike. I swing my right leg over effortlessly. If it was my left leg I’d fall on my face. I should work on this–thanks for the reminder.
