Your Expectations vs What Your Wind Up With

August 17th, 2010 @ 7:00 am by Elsa

Ask the collective

Some feel you manifest your beliefs (Jupiter) in reality (Saturn).  They think you get what you expect.

While I understand this and think there is value to thinking in these terms, I don’t see this as true in practice.

In practice, I tend to get more or better than I expect, 80% of the time. I know others who get less than they expect 80% of the time.

How reasonable or realistic are your expectations?  Could you benefit by making an adjustment?

I know I am pretty lucky – I bet I get what I expect at least if not more than 80% of the time. Love me some Jupiter.

I do better when I let go of expectations. I guess it is “Let go, Let God.” It works for me.

My expectations can be high and I usually end up with less than what I expected.
I’m not sure if I’d benefit from adjusting. I can’t help but shoot high. I like to think I move on quickly from disappointment (find something else to aim for).

Jupiter sextile Saturn, here

I love that pic… Julie Roberts in Pretty Woman gave me Unrealistic Expectations About Hair. :) I’m just sayin’…

My expectations are way too high to actually get what I expect. I am not sure how to make my expectations more reasonable (which I’ve tried to do lately) without feeling like all hope is lost and quickly sliding into depression.

Sun sq Jupiter? or Mars opp Saturn? or maybe Venus sq Neptune? or just maybe all of them!

But I guess that I recover pretty quickly; I’m usually up and down all day long (my high highs and low lows).

I usually expact that things will work out well for me. It may not always happen as fast as I would like, but they usually do work out pretty well.

My second tattoo is going to be my personal motto:

“No expectations, no disappointment, no regret”

I learned a long time ago to keep my expectations as low as possible. Which may mean I settle too rapidly for things I perhaps shouldn’t, but also means I’m rarely disappointed with anything. It freed me up to be happier. *smiles*

hey SaD how about, “My expectations are so high you can never reach them” therefore your right, no disappointment, but no settling either. Yanno bring it around full circle.

Hmmm….. have you ever seen men in Disney movies with bald heads? Maybe one of the 7-Dwarves, but they never remove their hats (ummm, don’t recall it). Bah…. I always have best expectations for everyone I meet (Moon in 7th), rarely growl at total strangers (salespeople are exception)(uranus/pluto in 12th).

My expectations get all jumbled up – wanting to hope for the best, but afraid to do that. I find often just when I “give up” so to speak something happens that gives me fresh hope.

Off to explain myself to hubby, lol.

I get what I didn’t expect. Things will come out better than I expected when I expected bad, or vice versa. So….yeah.

Libra rising says Yes, what you believe will manifest! good / bad alike.
and No, expectations do limit one’s grander potentials!

I mean, do you think the caterpillar is visualizing itself into a butterfly?
like that, that kind of process? no way! it just is.

Apparently, as science and many newer studies have shown, as well as old traditional practices… there is proof that our thoughts are the creation of everything we experience in life. As I am now reading A Course in Miracles, as well as Yvonne Oswald’s Every Word Has Power in a very slow fashion. I am tuning into how many negative thoughts and feelings I have. I feel very gratified that I am becoming aware of my negative messages to myself and to others (and I thought I was past a lot of this shit), and now immediately, or painstakingly transform the verbiage into something positive for the future. It’s like I’m way more tuned into and catch my negative words and thoughts and stop and turn them around. Now I know this works, I have manifested income galore (at least for me) feeling money and imagining it pouring into my life. And I am amazed at how many negative things, words that pop into my mind…..

I am with a man who spends a lot of time planning the “what ifs”. I, on the other hand, have had to fly by the seat of my pants most of my life, so I am aiming for something better.

We balance the family that way.

In terms of expectations, I do expect things to go well on a daily basis. This long vacation we just returned from – road trip of 3000 miles, give or take, with 2 12 year old girls in the car with us and many stops to visit people or play tourist – not so much. I was prepared for the worst, and it was somewhat intentional because a big event like that tends to backfire on me. As a result, it was a great vacation. Don’t ask me how that happens, but experience has taught me that for the huge stuff, getting my hopes up for nirvana kicks my ass.

Now we are back to regular life, and I’m back to seeing the potential for wonderful, and he’s back to playing what if. lol

All that said – it’s time for me to reread A Course In Miracles again. Imagine what I could do with my life if I refreshed my memory from 17 years ago when I read it!!
