Uranus Transits the 8th, Jupiter Softens the Blow by Satori

August 1st, 2010 @ 4:04 pm by Satori

“I’m all the time dropping my toast on the floor, but it usually lands butter-side up.”
-Satori

The Saturn Uranus opposition in the sky is occurring across my second and 8th houses, respectively. Can you say restrictive and shocking circumstances in my personal and joint finances? I knew you could. It’s not a foreign energy to me, though. I have the Saturn Uranus opposition in these houses in my natal chart, in reverse.

Luckily for me, Jupiter is involved, Jupiter in Cancer in the 12th. While planets in the 12th are obscured, they can also be a hidden strength. Jupiter in the 12th aspecting that Saturn Uranus configuration has been the marshmallow that breaks my fall off the cliff many a time. I may end up gooey, but at least I don’t end up dead. You might even call it divine help.

I’ve had shocking gains and reversals in my personal and joint resources all my life. I never knew if we were poor or rich growing up. Sometimes we were one and sometimes the other. One year might find us living in a brick mansion with white pillars (eating beans and rice) and another we were living in the scary part of town where your car is broken into weekly, but vacationing with the glitterati in Aspen.

So now that my life is somewhat stable I haven’t exactly been looking forward to this transit. In fact, I’ve been checking for falling pianos before I step outside most days. During a recent lightning storm I decided it would be best to stay inside for the duration. Why tempt the universe in such a way (kill me via lightning: uranus in the 8th)? Paranoia, caution, I guess it’s a matter of personal perspective.

What did occur? Things don’t necessarily culminate when transits are exact but this one did. I got a shocking and unexpected (Uranus) notice that I owed (Saturn) a HUGE amount (Jupiter- huge being relative, I suppose, but huge for me) for a tax (8th house) I was unaware I owed. Luckily I only spent a day chewing my arm off before I went to the bank to check on my savings account. It’s the only account I hold jointly (8th house), though it’s joint in name only. I’m not sure my mother even remembers her name is on it.

I only deposit to that account for my mortgage and I round the amount up. Over time those extra dollars have added up, apparently. When I checked the balance there was extra, exactly the amount of my tax bill. Hallelujah and thank you Jupiter in the 12th!

Where is your Jupiter? Do you see how you are fortunate in that area?

ka-ching! That’s so awesome, satori. I’ve been reading a lot lately about ’rounding up’ in finances and yours is a great story to illustrate why it could be a good thing.

Jupiter is in my 6th House. I enjoy great health and good genes (aside from being a hive-making machine). I get a lot of joy from my kitty, too.

jupiter in the 7th. i guess i’ve been blessed in pairings, being able to find soulmates of all kinds no matter how far from home i travel and how different the crowds. but all in all i think jupiter in the 7th is difficult to appreciate on a daily basis because you become accustomed to it (and it’s not as tangible as, say, money) …sometimes it takes meeting someone who is really lacking in that area to make me remember.

Jupiter is in the 6th in mine (Leo), although I’m not sure how it deals with your post…?

I also have Saturn (1st) opposing Uranus (7th) natally. I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure this aspect sucks.

I’ve had good luck with money, at times, and won small things. Jupiter in Pisces in the fifth.

Yes, 2nd and 8th here too. I collected up a bunch of change from around the house last week. Put it in a bag and had to drive to three stores, park, haul it inside to find out the effing change machine was broken. It was heavy! Eventually found a working one at sack n save. 118 dollars! Woohoo! Just lying around the house.

I also have Jupiter in the 12th (in Leo), though I can’t think of anything specific it’s helped me with, except keeping me out of some big potential scrapes here and there. It’s in an out-of-sign opposition with my Cap sun/Mars conj. in the 5th.

The Saturn/Uranus opposition is also hitting my 2nd and 8th. It’s not hitting particularly hard, but I feel like I should be extra careful with my resources. Mine will be permanently severed from the ex’s soon, and the house may go into foreclosure, which will sink my credit, but I don’t find it threatening (he has the house). The most I’m getting is that I’m really paring down my possessions. Cap keeps anything *just in case*. Saturn says “do you really need all this shit?” and when I just shamefully shake my head he continues “I’ll get a garbage can.” ;)

Hi Satori, The last saturn uranus opposition was like yours. I am virgo rising with libra sun. Saturn in 2nd and uranus in 8th house for me at 0 deg libra aries. However, my natal jupiter sits exactly at 0 deg capricorn making a precise t square with these two. I hope it was good for me. Nothing has happened to me so far. I am still in one piece :-) .

Venus conjunct jupiter in the 9th. Both square ascendant, mars and neptune. I usually get what I need. I would consider myself lucky and sometimes I get really lucky. Both my long term relationships were with men from another country. Jupiter/Uranus in my 4th has really brought me so many little unexpected blessings at home and I have good relationships at work too. :)

oaw Satori, such serendipity! That is so cool when that happens.

Jupiter expands in either direction for me 1/2 serendipity 1/2 not so great. My Jupiter is in the 6th. I’ve been prone to too many surgeries that supposedly were not optional and prescribed the wrong drugs (or drugs I did not need.) I attribute my frequent misdiagnosis to a strong Neptune configuration, which Jupiter trines and the scalpel activities to Pluto, which Jupiter opposes as well as an Aries Mars.

The serendipity part comes in as I’ve learned quite a bit and have since avoided 1/2 a dozen “non optional” surgeries and thrown countless prescriptions into the trash. As soon as I focus on or open to the possibility of effective alternatives to the problem, they appears on my path. In addition I’ve become quite familiar with several ‘alternative’ healing modalities – I also speak of ‘happiness health’ here :) and have become a carrier of serendipity for a few others, so it passes on, which is awesome.

PS btw, I would use your words: divine help. Jupiter in the 6th informs me that the physical body is divine as well (as with all of nature) and a not separate physical dwelling from the rest of our energies. Illnesses carry gifts, perhaps not always easy to see that, but they are there.

PS2 I got a lot of joy from my kitty, also!

this opposition is also in my 2nd 8th polarity and I have Jupiter Uranus conjunct in early Libra natally. When Saturn crossed over here last year prior to its recent retro I was flattened. No work. None. No help either. It was real survival mode not due some psychological glitch within, but due reality. Now as Saturn begins to revisit this point for me I am getting good work and also acknowledgement from the scientific community as to its value. By this stage I have learnt to live on very very little and so the earnings are being ploughed into what matters most.
And also resonated with your childhood – not being sure if you were rich or poor – and later on in my life having at times an abundance and at others, absolutely nothing. I am learning from master Saturn though and so the survival mode thing is now perceived as lving sustainably and simply.

Love this post Satori- and very glad it had a happy ending! The opposition is hitting my 5th House (Aries) and 11th house. So far nothing earth shattering…

I kept looking at the image of toast/butter and not getting the relationship, until I finally read your quote. hehe!

i have 11th house jupiter, trine venus in the 3rd. bosses and people in authority generally like me, which confuses me sometimes. i’m very responsible and reliable so i can understand why bosses would appreciate that, but…uh, somewhat non-conventional and am not the master of fitting in to the existing structure.

I have the same natal configuration with a 12 house Jupiter in aspect to the opposition, and I also have the same type of experiences. I like the description you gave Satori of a “marshmallow that breaks your fall” That is exactly how it feels.

Wow, satori. That’s really interesting. If you don’t mind me asking, why was this/what’s the story behind it?

the long story is VERY long, but the gist of it is that my mother was married five times. my dad was the love of her life and he was a cad. he’s a Cary Grant type, tall dark and handsome and charming as hell. when he finally ditched for good she dated doctors and lawyers. and she married some of them. my mother’s an interesting and strong character though. when there were rich men we got the extras they provided but through it all she busted her ass (with total class, of course, we were never allowed to say “ass”) to provide for us. my mother was many things but never a bon-bon eating type.

I am totes a bon-bon eating type. And, coincidentally, my Jup’s in the first. *pleased smile, for no good reason*
