Pluto in Capricorn: Explosive Change by Shaina

June 25th, 2010 @ 4:04 pm by Shaina

Observations from Real Life

Deepwater Horizon Rig explosionSince Pluto transits produce a long-haul, from-the-roots-up type of effect, we might not necessarily connect their results to every day life the same way we would with, for example, Mercury retrogrades.

However, we currently have access into an amazing, if tragic, glimpse into Pluto’s function. The Deepwater Horizon well explosion on April 20th of this year was extremely Plutonic in nature (oil, uncontrollable explosion, subterranean depths). And in a few short months, it has completely transformed BP, a very Saturnian entity (large, British corporation). It is up to us to imagine just how this will change the United States, a country whose entire infrastructure is intimately entwined with the oil industry.

It is questionable whether BP will survive this experience, and many people who live along the Gulf Coast are wondering what else is about to die. Industry, livelihoods, marine ecology and biology are all on the chopping block, like it or not. Due to the intricate nature of the planet’s ecosystems, we may not see the total tally of damage and change for quite some time. Another function of Pluto. No one understands its full impact until its transits pass completely.

That information-blunting effect is compounded by the corporate-owned nature of media and government in the U.S. It is difficult to know what information is correct when the “powers that be” often have a vested interest in preserving the status quo. It is also very frustrating to watch politicians and scientists on both sides of the Atlantic scramble, yet with all the power and money at their disposal no one has the necessary technology to stop the still-gushing well.

Sorry BP

All these Capricorn-type entities will have their time of examination. Only what is functional will be left and consolidated. No stone is left unturned by Pluto.

As the fabric of America’s identity shows its wear-and-tear, we are also becoming aware of similar abuses that have gone ignored until now. Facebook exploded with cross-posted links about the various atrocities related to Deepwater– endangered turtles burning alive in the Gulf, a BP charter-boat captain who committed suicide in despair– but then related stories began to trickle out about how in some places, economic and environmental devastation is nothing new. (Read about how in Nigeria, oil spills are a daily occurrence.) It is a small but significant silver-lining that as we suffer, we can become more aware of the suffering of others– and work to end it!

The USA’s chart is being transited by Pluto in Capricorn/Saturn in Libra in a way that will change both the face and the heart of the country. I find the Deepwater Horizon explosion an introductory lesson in the intense changes we can expect to undergo through the early 2020′s. I also will be writing more about how this affects my chart personally, as I currently have Pluto conjunct my Sun at 5 degrees Capricorn right until it hands off the baton to my first Saturn return in Scorpio.

On a microcosmic level, you can expect to see changes happening to the structure of families and employment. The other night, a friend and I talked about how the bugs are crawling out of the woodwork in her paternal history for the first time in her whole life. Deadbeat dads won’t get a pass any longer. Companies that abuse their employees, the environment, or the rules will collapse from the inside-out, as BP has demonstrated. If you have the urge to escape the corporate machine and be “self-made,” work that Capricorn energy. It’s in your corner, and it’s the right time.

The best way to deal with all the coming change is to embrace it, work with it. No, it doesn’t mean flying to South America and stripping off your clothes to dance around a bonfire naked on December 12, 2012. The world is probably not going to end during Pluto in Capricorn. It is, however, going to change significantly. Remember that it is changing for a reason. Whatever you choose to contribute and however you decide to be part of it, you are adding to the foundations of a world being reborn. See it as an opportunity, and enjoy the ride.

What do you expect to see with Pluto in Capricorn?

Deep changes I hope Shaina!

I have Pluto in Capricorn- 10th transit. Since I’m born in the 60′s, I think I might have to take a larger role on behalf of the collective and plod my way, making some changes myself. You think?

I second that! Great post Shaina!

This is soooo encouraging! Against all odds, and only because of the support of my husband (actually my previous husband as well) and family have I been able to be a self-taught, self-employed person. I’ve had moments of doubt and frustration, don’t get me wrong… but, there’s always been a persistent voice in my head that has encouraged me to ‘not give up’. Yes, it’s meant going without sometimes, more than a few sleepless nights worrying, but I’ve continued to have faith that it is worth the sacrifices and that there is more than just monitary gain here.

I don’t have a single planet in Capricorn in my own chart, but was raised by one, so have a work ethic that keeps me climbing that mountain, no matter how long it takes (which is so un-Aries of me).

My chart is ruled by Pluto, so this influence isn’t anything new to me and I’m comfortable with it. With Jupiter & Uranus transitting my Sun in Aries, I’m actually considering learning a whole new craft and maybe even another career focus. I am still not sure if it will meld with what I’ve already invested in over the last dozen years, but I do know that the lessons I’ve learned during those years is exactly what I will need to accomplish it.

I don’t know if any of this is making any sense… I’ve got Neptune in the 1st house, so sometimes it takes awhile for the fog to lift before I can articulate it all… just wish me luck, ehe?!

A powerful mass participation that will create effective legislations, my optimistic two cents.

re. the turtles –Participate to educate and prode the bp staff to reorganize efficiently and cooperate w/ group efforts. the link below is a petition for accessing the turtles.

Tell your senators to pass energy legislation that will prevent future oil spills (and check out the NRDC.org action center… they are busy in court and in washington and worldwide)

ok that was more Uranian but I just had to plug these in.

This is a kickin’ post Shaina!! I understand where you’re coming from and think you are “spot on”…

Been seeing this a lot recently ..”Deadbeat dads won’t get a pass any longer. Companies that abuse their employees, the environment, or the rules will collapse from the inside-out..” This comment really hit home with me.

All I can say is: It’s about f*cking time!

Just read this post very informative and I feel like it is spot on. I too agree that there is going to be significant changes that although the end of the world will not come it will be a new world as we know it. January 1,2013 will dawn a new way of thinking and living most likely.

A part of me wanted all the oil to spill, like so there would be no more of it. Just so we could move on all the sooner.

Ah…Pluto.

Shaina, this is a wonderful post, thank you!

I would invite you to read Lynne McTaggart’s latest blog (today)She is a internationally renowned author, (Dan Brown nodded to her in his latest novel), blogger, science writer….

http://www.theintentionexperiment.com/well-after-all-it-was-you-and-me.htm

Regarding just how prolific our dependency on oil is.

And how this is just a wake up call to a new paradigm…. To finding other ways of existing without depending on oil…very astute

The world can not possibly end. However, the possibility for mass extinction of life seems quite inevitable, perhaps 2/3s of the worlds human population. It has happened before. What makes people think it cant happen again? Current Technology? Corporations? That makes it almost a mathematical certainty. The siver lining will be that with fewer people, there must of necessity be more awareness per person. It is the awareness of the thin film of organic life on the surface of the earth that sustains the entire ray of creation of which we are all part.

Mari– that is a great article, thank you for linking to it.

One thing I didn’t have room to go into in my piece, but you have given me a great opportunity to mention it, is that we are actually not running out of natural reserves.

To be brief, there is the possibility that this oil-battle may continue on with methane clathrate reserves, especially in the Siberian tundra and the Arctic. Although the general public is not much aware of what these reserves mean for future energy sources, to the best of my research Chevron holds the contract for excavation in U.S. territories. It was the explosion of these clathrate-associated gases that caused the Deepwater “incident.”

So it is imperative that we all, as Lynn has remarked, begin moving toward a healthier more diverse lifestyle. I myself find it easier to take little steps, like saying “No thanks” to bags at the grocery store. Once it becomes habit, you can build on it.

Cheers for the article!

THanks Shaina – my daughter is also having the 5 degree Pluto over her Sun experience and I am also a Cap. Yesterday she started going out with her first boyfriend, but was also grounded by her mother for concealing the truth about her whereabouts until midnight in a town where muggings and rape are routine. My son is also grounded most of these holidays. The father is deadbeat – as you say – I am forced into the role of Saturn. So our little family is changing from love and support to serious, consequential maturing.
I have been self-employed for 5 years now. Not easy – even when things go well – it is momentary. We have learnt to live sustainably and simply. My work is cleaning/healing dirty water and only now – 5 years later – is the work being recognised and researched. It is such a blessing and a humbling to start to feel recognised and included after so much stress.
Thanku for your writing.

BP is actually a multi-national corporation, 40% of whose shareholders are American.

Wonderful post Shaina! Something tapped me on the shoulder and said, Do you accept responsibility for your actions that have helped lead to this terrible disaster? Your car still runs on gasoline and you are sometimes guilty of bringing home things in plastic containers.

Plastic it is all pervasive! Stop!!!

Yesterday my youngest daughter invited us to a Hands across the Sea protest, to give voice to stop drilling for oil in the ocean. My wife and I along with many others were asked to comment on camera. On the way home I said, I hope they don’t choose us for their news clip but they did. We watched ourselves on the 5pm news. Somehow I really did not want this, but after viewing it. I was OK with it.

It was really cool on the beach. I had a powerful moment on the beach, holding hands and linked to hundreds of others. This after awaking at 4:30 am and watching the eclipse the moon. My Moon is at 4 degrees Cancer!

Any way, I have reconnected with a part of my past where I was part of a student protest to stop oceanic drilling for Oil.

Your post and yesterday’s experience has really sparked my Mercury too. I want to be a part of the change. Communicate about it.

It doesn’t have to take 30 more years to wean ourselves from our addiction to Oil!
