If It’s Worth Only 15 Points, Tenuki. By Nota

Go Strategy for the Current Sky.

My bladder woke me up at four this morning, which is pretty typical these days.  I waddled through the dark into the bathroom and sat down with my eyes still closed.  Suddenly a tickling sensation on my right foot caused me to shriek out in terror.  It was a baby chameleon.  He quickly surmised from my wails and animated gestures that he might not be in the safest location and scurried behind the toilet.  Upon realizing the true identity of my assailant I calmed down considerably and went back to my business.  About five minutes later as I’m leaning against the mirror armed with but a meager pair of tweezers battling the encroachment of my grandmother’s chin hairs, I hear my man trying to communicate with me from behind a thick curtain of unconsciousness

“wha… wha… wha happon?”

“Nothing dearest, just being murdered, go back to sleep.”

“Ok.”

Bud, the chameleon then peeped out from behind the toilet.  I could care less at that point.  He made a mad dash for a crack in the wall and disappeared.  Great story, I know, I’m the Lore Master but I promise, I have a point.  (“and if you wear a hat, no one will notice.”  Sorry, don’t mean to get off track, but every time I say “I have a point” the voice of my father automatically plays one of his favorite quips. Its an idiosyncrasy.)

Anyway, my point is… Even though my initial response was that of fear, when the situation was properly analyzed, I didn’t feel threatened.  So, I chose Tenuki.

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the ancient Chinese game of Go.  It is a game of boundaries and territory.  It is widely popular in Japan and Korea and many of the technical terms used in American go circles are borrowed from Japanese. Tenuki is a strategy term. It means if your opponent’s attack is small, ignore it and play elsewhere. In doing so, you gain the upper hand.  A popular saying is “If it’s worth only 15 points, Tenuki”

With Pluto eating away at Saturn’s boundaries these days people feel attacked, and when attacked the temptation to answer is high.  The important thing to ask is “How significant is the attack that I am feeling?” or “How threatened am I really?” I have never known Pluto to tear down something vital.  Pluto tends to clear away the old and decrepit; those old political boarders embedded in your psyche by a now defunct thought administration.  Do you really need to spend resources fortifying those old lines on the basis of it’s what you’ve always done…Especially when your energy could be used more efficiently elsewhere.

While Mars and Saturn are still retrograde, consider the whole board before you get sucked into responding to a local attack.  You have bigger moves to make.  Fighting now puts you at a disadvantage… especially if it’s only Bud, the chameleon.

Wow. You’re such a talented writer. I love it!!! Haha you have a very good mix of humor, and clearly defined points you’re making. Hmm, I’m going to end up researching that Tenuki thing. This is just a wise thing to do. Don’t even respond unless you’re truly being attacked. Like something you absolutely cannot live without is being ripped away from you. I have sort of felt this situation lately. I was fired from my job. Everyone EXCEPT me was ready to fight. But what they don’t realize is that I lost a part of myself those 18 months and 1 week. I feel like I worked in the twilight zone or something. It is just very strange, and not something I can put into words. It’s definitely not worth fighting over. Besides the management (Saturn) is corrupt and will be exposed in due time, by no doing of my own (Pluto) while I will be merrily on my way.

Nice, I really like this Nota! Keep it up :)

I wish I could actually SEE my opponent. Instead, it just feels like I’m constantly tripping over myriad emotional lizards in the dark. I am trying hard to not freak out. But it’s starting to wear on me…sigh. Great post, tho Nota!

(((Le Ciel du Scorpion))) – I agree…I have to constantly remind myself that it’s more “how” I respond to those lizards (not whether they are there) that is keeping me from freaking out…

Put another way, save my energy for the big stuff and know it is MY perspective on reality is changing – not always that the world (most of the time) itself is…yes, I understand we have this Saturn/Pluto/Uranus/Jupiter/Venus, etc.,etc. stuff coming on us soon – but I feel it doesn’t help to worry about it until a situation arises…

Nota, you are a wonderful writer!!

I’ve become so adept at holding myself back that I have a hard time figuring out when it really is worth it to strike. and by adept i mean I’m not shooting family members in the night when they get up to use the bathroom.

Wish my bf read this today… he woke up and got into a screaming match with his mom just b/c she moved some of his things.. i understand why he was upset (usually b/c when they “clean up” a lot of his things disappear) even though everything he had out was still there he still decided to go at it with her. Neither one of them backs down (him Aries, her Virgo)
The only thing I could do was quietly take my bowl of cereal upstairs…

“I wish I could actually SEE my opponent”

Le Ciel I can only speak for myself but I have discovered the invisible opponents I sense are near, are only myself.

Nota, this is wonderful and I think you. I love learning any kind of fighting technique, particulary the efficient kind.

Excellent! I remember asking a couple who had been married for over forty years what the secret was. They told me to pick your battles with great care and that 90% of the time, whatever annoyed you wouldn’t the next day. Good advice

p.s. you are so right about Pluto . . .
