Controversial Virgo Amy Winehouse is both a story of violent lifestyle, drug addiction and an artist that is credited with bring a female voice back to R&B in the UK. She has won six Grammy nominations, three MTV nominations and has collected several other awards. Her career is slathered with bad press regarding drug abuse, violence and even racism. Although Winehouse has made several attempts at getting clean she is still a questionable booking for many producers. It has been said that she battles mental illness as well.

Still Winehouse is an individual voice in an era of very few individual voices. Her chart is a “runaway,” chart with much fire driving her life. Amy has a stellium of Moon, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune in Sagittarius with Venus and Mars in dramatic Leo. Although she has her Sun and Mercury in earthy Virgo she is fiery and her relationships are colored by Pluto in Libra. Saturn is in Scorpio making the dark side a challenge for Amy. One with so much Sagittarius, especially Jupiter in it’s own sign has a lot to say and when you add the dramatic Leo in Venus and Mars you have someone who is not always careful when saying what she might have to say! She has given quotes that have caused her more trouble than she needed and with Pluto in Libra her relationships have been one of the causes of her drug problems being as her ex husband credits himself as introducing her to drugs. Amy makes an effort to get up and clean, but even her parents have not been the influence one might think she needs in her life.

The public has the opinion, often, that Winehouse is a victim and needs to get “clean,” and be around those that might be good for her with regard to her drug use and somewhat loud behavior in public. It comes naturally to Amy to behave this way and one wonders how she will fair if she manages to get clean and to use her Virgo sun to manage herself more effectively! She is a talent with an unusual way of expressing herself and one cannot say she is without substance in the way of something to offer in music.

Amy’s style is one that has swept the “under 25′s,” and she has been compared, by Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel as “the next Bridget Bardot.” She has been said to have eating issues as well as drug problems but the fashion crowd lauds her regarding her fashion style no matter how sloppy it can appear at times.

Amy starts with long dramatic hair and eyes in the true style of the Leo Venus and Mars. She tops her head with hair that is teased and twisted into a bubble and then hangs very long on the side of her face. This works for her face and she adds the dramatic cat eye make up that arcs out at the edge of the eye giving her cat like eyes that are very dark and dramatic. One can see her Leo Venus and Mars all over that style and a bit of her Saturn in Scorpio placement as well for it squares her Leo Venus and Mars. She takes this energy and puts it over the top and it sells for her in a time when “over the top,” is what people are interested in. Lady Gaga credits Winehouse for opening up the top of the chart for her! Winehouse is a vintage dresser and does, in fact, choose clothing that reminds us of Bardot. She wears bra tops with flat front pants and coats of patterns that remind us of that era. Amy is said to have an interest in the girl groups of the 50′s and 60′s when it comes to style as well. We can see that in Amy when she appears in her stage clothing which is very original in it’s vintage flavor. Her hair and make up are completely vintage and have become her trademark. We can expect something like the hair and make up being a trademark for a Leo Venus and Mars but when it is driven by all those planets in Sag we are in for a full on press of costume dressing. Amy does not disappoint and one only has to look at young women in this country and in Europe to see Amy’s influence. Amy also performs what would be “vintage music,” when performing remakes of former R&B hits done with her own style.

All in all we have a driven person in Amy Winehouse and one I would like to see get hold of her life in a Virgo and practical way without losing her unique style in music and presentation. She is given to co-dependent relationships according to those around her and was arrested with her S.O. at one time. One can hope that she is influenced by someone more earthy and that she, herself, can get in touch with her own earth and that her Sagittarius wander lust and love of adventure takes her to a safer place.

Amy’s style will most likely stay in the realm of other eras when we take into consideration her Sag stellium and that can only result in some more good music along with more of an accident prone lifestyle for a bit more time as she matures.
