Astrology And Fashion: Celebs And Their Style: Alanis Morissette by Annalisa

Astrology and Style

Gemini singer, songwriter, producer and actress Alanis Morissette is a woman with a world of feeling inside her! She knows how to bring the drama to her work as well with a Leo rising shown also by her long flowing hair. Alanis also brings sexuality into focus in her vocals and her Moon is in Scorpio.

In the 12th house of creativity, Alanis has a stellium of planets in Cancer: Mercury, Mars and Saturn. With Saturn in the 12th one often has experience and knowledge of pain whether it is theirs or others. She brings it to us in her verses of wordy and meaningful song which she produces in, happily, a good amount of quanity. Alanis sings about feelings and she knows much about them given her chart with the Moon in Scorpio in the 4th, the stellium in Cancer in the 12th and Jupiter in Pisces in the very sensitive 8th house! Most of her songs are about how she or others may feel or what they may face in their lives and her chart shows us that she is focused in that area in a very large way and in being so, knows much about it all. Being a Gemini she would want to communicate her knowledge and she does so in a very successful and, in my own opinion, talented way. Her Midheaven is in Aries and she would be very energetic regarding her career and what she is trying to do with it with that placement.

With such a large amount of Cancer in her chart along with the other water signs greatly covered we can expect the feminist we get from Alanis in her understanding of women and what they may deal with daily and in their lives as time go by. With Aries on the Midheaven and Venus in the 10th in Taurus she would work hard to express what she knows and what she feels as she feels a great deal! I often say that I see Cancer-type women in business for themselves and Alanis with her Cancer placements and Aries Midheaven took to producing herself and being more responsible for her own releases as early as possible in an effort to be able to say what she wanted to say and not be trapped in any sort of studio pushed reality that she could not sustain honestly. Alanis took it upon herself to say what she wanted, (Gemini,) and took responsibility for whatever took place after that (Taurus.)

In her style, once again we see the Leo rising with the long hair but we see a degree of being herself that we don’t always see and this is due to her very womanly approach to styling herself that is honest, (Taurus Venus,) and womanly, (Mars in Cancer.) Alanis was not afraid to appear nude or almost nude in a nude body suit but did so in a way that was natural and more Cancer than all out Scorpio. Her Scorpio Moon makes her unafraid of showing skin but her stellium in Cancer wants to make a statement about woman-hood. In many of her photos Alanis shows off her hair in a Leo way and uses the basics of her body in a womanly, Cancer way, showing her bust off and wearing skinny jeans for her Scorpio Moon. She often appears in promo shots with less than more clothes on and we can contribute that to her water sign placements as well. Still, she will pull herself together on stage with a jacket which any Cancer type might and she is fond of hats to flatter her face and show off her hair flowing from them. A Cancer woman will use make up to flatter her face and a Leo will use the hair and Alanis does both in most of her promo shots. She performs in comfortable clothing but looks pulled together; another nod to Cancer stellium. Of all the womanly signs, Cancer is the most natural in style and the most true to themselves. As we move through the water signs we get more and more of the art of make up and clothing added on to express. Alanis wears a lot of black, for example, giving a nod to her Scorpio Moon.

In the end, however, Alanis is a Gemini and communicate she will! She has a lot to say, again, about woman-hood and feelings and say quite a bit in only one song since her songs are often full of lyrics and not short in the way of phrasing. She is a writer after all and a Gemini with an engine of emotion behind her and artistic talent is fueling that engine! We can expect more from Alanis along these lines of expression as described above and as she has more experiences with life, love, religion, etc, she will share these in her lyrics and in her music. Being an artist with Leo rising we can expect some more acting in a dramatic sense from Alanis as well.

I always knew she was a dual sign! Her songs reflect her persona. Especially her song ‘Ironic’ and ‘Won me over’.

That was great, Annalisia. She just pushes the envelope, such an expressive and genuine and original artist, no fear there. She kind of reminds me of Janis J. the way she wears her heart on her sleeve…

I dearly LOVED that Kevin Smith cast her as God in ‘ Dogma ‘, he could’nt have made a better choice; and the song she sings as the credits are rolling ( ‘Still ‘ ) is as God regarding humanity — the perfect accompaniment for the movie. If no one’s heard that track, I highly recommend giving it a listen. I hope that she finds lasting love someday…she really is awesome !

Thanks, Annalisa !

Thanks Annalisa! Great analysis. Alanis has been my favorite artist for over a decade now, and your phrasing of it help me to understand why. I have a painfully aspected Moon in Gemini, and she, being “Gemini with an engine of emotion behind her” helps me to understand and satisfy my Moon. It makes sense!

Her cover of “My Humps” is better than the original, in fact, it’s brilliant.

She’s one of those women I would DIE to be friends but who never really see me. Alanis is FABulous, Dave Coulier or no Dave Coulier.

I think everyone remembers the day they first heard “You Ought To Know”! I know the minute I heard it I had to find out all there is to know about her!

Thanks for this bio, she is a truly fascinating artist.

When I think Gemini with Scorpio Moon, I think Lupa. :) And looking at this photo of Alanis, I feel a similar energy/gaze and that’s kinda cool.

Dorothy, that’s so funny, I remember that day exactly as well!

luci,
Alanis’s long hair makes her face look longer as it does on any woman. She did try a cute shorter cut once that looked great. I think her hair is a trademark for her now and we have to remember that Leo rising!

Is it ironic that I was contemplating Alanis last night at a karaoke bar? A few of her songs were performed, and it struck me how very Scorpio moon her sensibilities are concerning love. Many of Alanis’ lyrics speak to the underlying power-struggles involved in love (something I feel us Scorp moon types are keenly aware of) — and she loves to portray herself in lyric as the one you’ll never actually know. :)

Jorge, I did do a profile of Johnny Depp. Just use the search feature on Elsa’s site and you should find him and many others I’ve done in the past!
Thanks!

she claimed to “have been a victim of statutory rape” at 14 years old with a 29 year old man. to get publicity? while unfortunate, when she was 14 it was 1998 and it was not ‘statutory rape’ in Canada to have sex with a14 -year old ..it was not against the law unless coerced or in a position of authority e.g doctor-patient, or teacher-student, etc. IT would have been if it happened in many US states, or later..in 2008 after the law was changed to make it illegal if under 16 rather than 14 – Besides she seemed very proud \of it in Jagged Little Pill, also said it fueled her creativity..and before she claimed it was at 13, now says 14?
