There are all different kinds of intelligence and modes of thinking. Some people are book smart, some are street smart, some trust their thinking and others overestimate their mind’s abilities. Some think optimistically, others think critically and when Mercury is in Scorpio people get their information from none-of-your-business. Mercury in Scorpio is not interested in anything superficial. It is interested in taboo.
As an example, once I decided to dress up as a gay man and go undercover as a gay man. There were things I wanted to know and this was the only way I could find them out.
Another time I watched as the FBI taped a microphone to my sister’s chest so they could listen into a conversation we were about to have with another person as part of a murder investigation. My job was to get the person to talk.
Mercury in Scorpio is interested in psychology, secrets, exchange of potent information and matters of life and death and taxes. Some people are like this innately but when Mercury transits Scorpio the entire collective thinks deeply and senses information that very likely takes them into their un-comfort zone.
As always, how you fare depends on how comfortable you are when you’re uncomfortable.

I guess Uranus/Aquarius energy is more extroverted? While Scorpio is dense and secretive?
Toni, I don’t think it is dense. Mercury in Scorpio reads you from across the room and counts you in or out based on what they pick up. Secretive? Of course.

I always wished I could have had a friendship/relationship with someone who has mercury in scorpio, but that hasn’t been my experience. Anyone know any famous people with this placement? Just curious to get a feel for what they are like.
So would you say Mercury in Scorpio is intense?
Anything in Scorpio is intense. Track the examples I offered. I did not do those things lightly. I better not get caught, ya know?
But it is also deeply knowing. Can gather information surreptitiously in ways you can’t detect. Like when I see the sheen on the soldier’s lip.
I find them to be very cutting, no one can wound so well

! Have to agree with what I read…
This is incredibly fascinating to me. Last night, I listened to the episode of This American Life about the real-life Mark Whittacre (played by Matt Damon in “The Informant!”).
I wanted to describe some of this energy as “subterfuge” but I feel like it’s important to remember that it only comes off as subterfuge because there is no other way for this type of information to be revealed. You have to go through the back door, so to speak, the un-comfort zone.
It has seemed to me that certain types of occultists are interested in making as many of these back doors into front doors as possible. This sort of project would seem to make sanity incredibly difficult to maintain.

I think I can relate to this kind of thinking even if my Mercury is not in Scorpio! Hmmm… I have Venus-Pluto in Scorpio!
I can tell when someone is lieing to me… just by looking at them! Its like its readen on their face! With just a few expressions , I can usually travel back to see what trully happened to them! Another thing.. its that my radar gets the .true. intentions behind the actions
The disadvadage(or sometimes not) its that I feel it too! (compassion ? -> Mars Pisces)

My partner has this natal placement. The one time I had a jealous fit over a girl, he made a suggestion: “Why don’t you ask a couple of my teammates to be your spies?”
I looked at him, shocked. “WHAT? Are you kidding me? That is NOT my style! And I TRUST you! I just don’t like HER!” says me, Mercury in Pisces who always goes by “feel”.
“Well… that’s how I’d fish for information..” he said.

Lunalie, I pulled it off with Ben’s help. This was 20 years ago, we did it for a social cause. He’s told me about a certain energy and I wanted to experience it first hand – period.
“You were very persuasive that night,” he says in the current day.
Anyway i didn’t do it all that successfully but long enough I could have the experience I wanted and boy was it something.
I really have this in my nature… also by nurture. I have been up to this stuff since I was about 5 years old. Born and bred, there is nothing else to day.
Pretty comfy with uncomfiness, and I absolutely adore cutting to the chase. The hell with extraneous info and beating around the bush.
RE: Scorp mercury ferreting out “secret” info
My new man analyses every single tiny thing I do to score info. When we first got together, he was extremely frustrated that I wouldn’t spend the night at his place though he kept asking. Then one night he busts out with, “I know you want to, your pupils dilate every time we talk about it!” *laughs*

How long will Mercury be in Scorpio? Does anyone know? I have critiques in November so it would be good to know what everyone will be interested in!

Woo hoo, I have Mercury in Scorpio natally in the 11th house. Haha, I read EVERYONE from far, far, far away and not much (if anything) slips past me about a “friend” and hardly anything shocks me.
So I mean, please do try to hide… But I promise, I’ll be on you. Even if I never show it. And I also store these things (Taurus Moon) too. The good, and the bad 
Ehhh, also, I don’t mince words. Say what I mean, mean what I say and I read other people the same way. If you said it, some part of you meant it… Even if you try to camouflage it with a “just kidding.” Yeah, bullshit. You probably meant it even more when you were “JK” but you say that to cover your ass because a) you probably shouldn’t say it, and b) you don’t know how I’ll react. People kill me with that…
But of course, 1st house Cap Venus just (Libra on the 10th) has to keep it classy… But don’t think I won’t get back at you somehow, even if it is very underhanded and often goes undetected by most. The person it’s directed to will know, and that’s all that matters to me. No need to make a scene.
Also hate when people BS around… Just get to the point already…

i’ve got mercury in scorpio. yeah, i’m devious as hell. i collect and label and store the secrets of every person i’ve ever passed on a street.
but i’m way more worried about other aspects of my chart, particularly venus in scorpio and pluto in scorpio.
i’ve become so seductive that i’m afraid to even have drinks with friends. it seems that everyone is in the routine of falling in love with me, and … come on, i’m a detached scorpio via aquarius moon. it’s grueling, i want it to stop.
i hope everyone is just into scorpio at this time of the year … because i’m tired of the dramatics. and i am a scorpio … geez …
