Voice Of Mars: Joinin’ The Posse With His Huntin’ Dog, Dora
Astrology in real life
The soldier has been called to jury duty and hopes to be picked.
“Someone on my blog said they want sheep on juries, no wolves.”
“I’m a sheep! I’m a sheep, P!” the soldier said, shrilly. “Oh, why don’t they ever pick me? Whyyyy? I’ve been called up 10 times at least but I never get picked.”
He went on to list an impressive number of states to which he’s been called but not picked to serve.
“I am going to tell the, you want justice, then you pick me. You want justice, I’ll give it to you. Why don’t they pick me? Why? I would not be intimidated. You know, the mafia says we’ll kill ya? I’ll say, good! I haven’t been fire fight in 10-15 years. I can’t wait! Who you bringin’? Bruno? Yeah, I haven’t had me a life or death conflict for quite some time and I’d be more than happy…”
I laughed.
“P, I will do whatever to get on that thing. Why won’t they let me join the posse? You know how they have trouble getting people to join the posse? Well if I lived in the west, I would join the posse. I would go right over to Wyatt Earp and say, I’m joinin’ the posse and I’m bringing my hunting dog, Dora. ‘Cept we’ll need to pull a wagon for her to ride in because she won’t walk more than five feet.”
I roared.
“Yeah, hell. I sure hope they let me on that thing. I will get tested and certified, deputized, whatever it takes but the bastards send me home, they do it every time.”

Yeah, I agree with Crackers. The soldier should answer the questions honestly, but try (?) to come off sheep-like – LOL!
Looking forward to hearing what ends up happening…
I tried to advise him but not about as far as I get with my Taurean son.
“No, hell no, I’m goin’ as myself, my regular self.”
Ha ha, that’s why I put the question mark after “try”. That guy is one alpha male!!
I’m sure others may disagree– but in my experience, on the jury they want, well, simple, happy, yet serious minded people. When the lawyers ask the questions to weed people out they want that earnestness. They want people who want to serve and show it, but remain calm, not toooooo gung ho so as to seem…odd.
My comments are not a reflection on the Soldier but just what I’ve seen. They want that good open faced American who doesn’t waver at all when they say, “yes, I can hear both sides and be fair” etc
I hope he gets on the jury. I was an alternate once but the case got settled. Recently was called again but not picked– I didn’t think I could be fair and impartial at all.
who says our legal system wants justice?

If I had to venture a guess, I’d suspect he comes across as a person who’d emerge as a leader of the group – i.e., a potential jury foreman. That could make him stand out more to each side, and since it’s adversarial what’s going to suit one side is going to be exactly what the other side is trying to avoid.
