“P, you’ve got a dumb man. The dumbest,” the soldier explained.
“Tell me what you did.”
“Well I was in a McDonalds getting myself something to eat and there were these two girls in front of me, they are Asian. Girls, ladies, whatever. There were these two ladies in front of me and they said they’d have their food to go.”
“Uh huh.”
(swearing below the break)
“Well I was going to stay there and eat so I said, I’ll have mine for here. Okay. So I got my food and I was looking around for place to sit, I was standing their holding my tray and I noticed everyone was sitting at the tables eating out of bags. You know. They’re eating out of bags, I’ve got my tray and I can’t figure it out.”
“I can’t figure it out either.”
“Yeah, it was strange. I looked around for another red tray like mine and no one had one. So I didn’t know what was wrong but then I picked up my receipt and it said EAT IN TAX – one dollar.”
“You’re kidding?”
“Fuck no, I’m not kidding. No wonder I’m the only one in there with a tray! I was the only motherfucker with a tray n the place! 70 motherfuckers in there, eating out of bags and only one stupid bastard with a tray and it’s me.”
I laughed.
‘Yeah. I am the stupid bastard who had to pay a dollar tax for his stupidity so from now on you can just call me Eeyore. Me and whoever came up with such a stupid idea. You can see how well it’s working. 1 motherfucker out of 70 pays the tax and I guess all those trees they make paper bags out of have got to die,” he said. I could tell he was smirking.

OMG and California too? hahahhahahah oh the waste generated. A tax on eating in is completely ridiculous Whats the point? Its an obvious cash grab and thats just disgusting.
when I say “makes more sense” I mean that people with take-away present more of a likelihood of public burden than do those who eat in, where that is a private burden on the eatery. the burden would be disposal of waste, maintenance of areas used.
I’m not saying the tax makes sense, I’m saying the current appropriation of burden seems counter-intuitive.
lol
wouldn’t a tax be a percentage and a straight $1 be a fee? satori i got what you’re saying…seems like this place has a case of the ‘dumb and dumbers’
Is this a state tax or a local tax? I’m in CA, but I don’t eat fast food that often so I haven’t noticed. Sounds like the kind of thing you’d see in Berkeley, though!!
Haha I think he was being too hard on himself. He went into the stupidest fast food place on earth and was charged with something incredibly stupid. I don’t know how they can call it a “tax” because it sounds like an Eat-In FINE. $1 charge for something he will return and can be used over-and-over? Maybe McD’s should just charge $10 for bags and have no trays at all, so customers have no choice, if McD’s wants money that badly.
And what he said at the end about all those bags killing trees yet he gets charged pretty much for recycling, I think that was brilliant. He has some good critical thinking skills.
there’s more here about it. evidently there is a “carry out tax” as well hahaha.

if there is a carry out tax as well, it is less than eat in because the locals sure as hell didn’t have a (red) tray!
He said it was mostly kids in there who looked like they’d dug in the couch cushions for money to go to mcD – no way are they paying an extra dollar.
I don’t think McD’s is responsible for a tax
that is municipality stuff
If it’s actually a FEE that is listed as tax, a disgruntled customer could probably cause them trouble. Being McDonald’s, I bet corporate would become white on rice to that franchise owner if it came to their attention.
The red tray tax, right. How about a drive through tax and triple it if you are driving a hummer. Or maybe a filet o fish tax because that is just wrong.
That’s crazy. I suppose it only works in the finer restaurants. Wonder why they have that tax?
insane!
Actually it’s in all restaurants – even the coffee shops and such. I’m actually gonna carry a dish as well as my coffee cup, because I don’t want to waste all the bags/etc (nod to Satori in thanks for that idea) but I don’t want to pay the extra taxes, either!
