Speaking of character being apparent (or not apparent) you can see how true this is on my blog.
There are people who are consistently kind, appreciative, funny, transcendent or whatever it is they are. There are also people who are critical, cutting, condescending and various other sundries.
Some people are stable, others less so but you see my point. While there is always a lot of attention directed at me, the reader is no less transparent and I’ll tell you what’s helped me to not react emotionally. I have learned to apply the natural logarithm, the 80/20 rule.
The rule states that on average something will be true (or not true) 80% of the time. It may fluctuate a couple of degrees but virtually everything you can think of adheres to this pattern. That means a person may be a jerk 20% of the time and I am going to overlook that as it should be expected by anyone living in the real world.
On the other hand, you get someone like, “Laura” who showed up the other day to leave 3 comments, each of them insulting to me – it’s pretty obvious she is here for one reason and one reason only.
She is an extreme example but you get the idea. Anyone who is 80% mean to me or anyone else around here is going to be tagged as a troll and tossed so one way to parse this is this:
A person’s character is shown by how they behave 80% of the time.

Sun virgo 11th house conjunct mars/pluto and square moon.
80% of the time – friendly, healthy, humanitarian and also fiercely determined and slightly defensive!
cancer sun fourth house, I take care of people, and mercury in Leo, I entertain them, sun square uranus, I can be a little shocking!
I try to gather as much information as possible, and I try to see how many positive changes I can make in peoples lives with what time and money I have.
12th House Gemini Sun
I reflect, probe, talk my way either to the basement or to higher ground, spin some tales, let go, and give. 8th house sun in gemini, 9th house mercury in gemini.
Interesting 80/20. As applied to business, we have a saying that 20% of the people do 80% of the work. lol. I am usually nice and listen a lot! I realized that if I shut up then everyone else does a lot of talking and will tell me everything! I just ask a couple of questins. Its also referred to as the socratic method. I can just gather info. Evenutally I do talk if I decide the person is intelligent enough to get me (that’s so elitist I know). But I dont’ want to waste my time with dumbasses. People usually do not know if I don’tlike them, I’m not good at that. Mercury in Libra,Sun in Scopio both in 3rd.
Pisces Sun, 1st house.. dream a lot, try to radiate some healing.. love to do that.. also feel guilty about all the things I ought to do.. but clearly not guilty enough to stop the procrastinating !!
Laura whoever you are, get a life and lay off of our friend Elsa, ok..sure you had your reasons, but we need to remember that what we put out there into cyberspace affects others.. kindness costs nothing and feels great. : )
Sun in Cancer in my 4th house. 80% of the time I am taking care of someone. Either my family, a friend, an animal, a casserole in the oven, or a client. I work with my husband in the health care field too, so I am helping him and his patients 3 half days a week —
I believe in KINDNESS first. I don’t always understand everyone’s behavior or problem , but I find that starting with kindness usually leads to somewhere good.
I don’t do snark very well.
I guess I’d sum it up as “compassion.” I do compassion .
(Of course I have really shitty days when I feel sorry for myself and sometimes act like a martyr..Pisces rising..)– but I do TRY to maintain lovingkindness as my attitude in life–

That also is my approach most of the time. Even though my Neptune isn’t prominent, I am misunderstood a lot so I always try to make real sure I am not misreading a situation 1st.
The difference between us though is I can say I do snark really well when pushed past a certain point LOL The Mars on the MC in Gemini can go from Mr Nice Guy to ..Let Me Cut you a New Anal Orifice when pushed beyond a certain point.

I don’t know what I do 80 pecent of the time but I read (somewhere, Braha maybe?) that astrology only ‘works’ about 80 percent of the time.
First – I totally love von’s “Smile & nod while not really listening” response. I’m Pisces Sun, too, so I totally get that.
But I”ve an 8th house stellium (including my Pisces Sun) and I’d say at least 80% of the time I’m ‘looking into something.’
Madeline – I’m with you! I’ve got 4th house Sun, Mercury, Pluto and strong Neptune so maybe that’s it. But in my case, it’s Libra, so I may be coming from the ‘politeness’ angle more so than the ‘kindness’ – but what the hell, I believe people need to feel good and loved!
Haha I said “angle.” I swear to God, 80% (maybe more) of what I say, do, and think screams “cardinal.”
Crackers, I am with you. Von’s comment made me laugh out loud. I am a pisces sun and it is so true.
OTOH, I love to discussing issues. I don’t mind when people disagree with me; so I don’t understand when they get upset when I disagree with them. My dad and I would debate over the dinner table during my teen years. We never agreed. I respect my dad and he respects me. We just have different values.
I have also noted that it is very easy to miscommunicate via the internet.
Lastly, I learned the hard way that they are some people who love misery. They live in misery and they want to spread misery. The entire internet is world building. We can build whatever type of world we want. Why you would want to create something hateful is beyond me.
Honestly, I think I am critical 80% of the time. But I see it as getting to the bottom line where real progress can be made. Sometimes offering advice I truly think will help.
Attaboy after attaboy to me is not conversation. I think the problem with that is most people do not really want the truth they want to be charmed.

hmmm….I think that’s a pretty accurate theory. I’m very friendly 80% of the time. I might even push that to 86%…haha.
The other 14% is usually directed at either my mother/husband/kids/etc, in the form of critical-ness. (Virgo Venus)
My sun is in Leo in the 10th.
I am pretty considerate, kind, and I give a lot of myself. Gemini sun in the 12th house.

Elsa ..glad you kicked ass and got tipped…I do get protective of decent folk such as yourself who tirelessly, constantly give such a lot ..loved the Soldier quote…he sounds like a fine man..but then we often attract what we are : ) Madeleine.. you put that so well. Flip.. you’re right, some people need their misery to validate themselves, such a shame..block themselves off from sucha lot of good stuff. Thanks too for the insight into fellow Pisces Sun folk.. appreciated.. we don’t see ourselves in mirrors, we’re usually away on another rainbow..planning the next mission, dream..journey..or is that just me?
