Elsa P aka Underdog of The Astrology World
Astrology in real life
Lexie wrote on Astrology / Psychology Hot Shot:
“I just realized that you remind me of a character in a book series named Anita Blake.”
Lexie, thanks! I had to look her up: Anita Blake
From wiki:
“A strong protagonist in the series, Blake is very direct, flippant, and highly competent in the professions she is involved in. She is trained in judo, kenpo and knows how to use several weapons, but is most efficient with guns (as the series begins, the Browning Hi-Power is her carry gun of choice, though later in the series she switches to the Browning BDM). She is also a devout Christian which often creates moral dilemmas for the character.”
ha ha ha, I can relate and I have to comment on this because when I originally wrote that piece I compared myself to Underdog! Is the embarrassing or what?
But I am just like him. I show up when called to a crisis with a flair for drama. In other words, I put on my cape (costume) fly in, fix the problem and then get the hell out!
I don’t bother you, spam you, try to be your best friend, or sign you up for weekly sessions and this is exactly what some people want.
And if a new problem shows up? Well we just repeat this and there is another thing that happens in this process that does distinguish me from Underdog.
I’ve notice that if people watch me untangle a thing enough times they eventually learn to do it themselves and it is at that point my true worth becomes known.
But anyway you see the deal here. You can’t go be a therapist when you’re actually Underdog, now can you? ::snicker::

Well I don’t know her and based on the prior blog, have no idea if it is a compliment or an insult… however it is hard to be insulted when something is over yer head so I think I’ll just continue to feel good about myself.
Besides, whoever she is, I have been called worse… much worse, I’m sure.
It’s not an insult. LOL. I read the series (it’s my crack)and she’s a vampire executioner, human servant of the Master of the City of St. Louis, is familiar with mystical whatnots…but really it’s the very straight forward, to-the-heart-of-the-matter, determined, strong mindedness that you remind me of. As a writer, I think the character’s advantages are a little excessive (to the point of sometimes ruining the suspension of disbelief), but whether or not you like her isn’t the issue because she’s just so accessible on a psychological level.
/Long explanation.
They are FABULOUS, satori. Srsly.
At least until you get into the newer books, in my opinion, because they go: porn, porn, porn, plot point, porn, porn, plot point, porn, porn, porn.
I agree SanDiablo, you kinda have to skim over the porn parts to get to the good stuff, lol.
I also love Laurell K. Hamiltons series of the fae. I get addicted to books that run in series.
Yeah, I used to love Anita Blake until the books became porn-only. Boring paranormal porn, no less. Very sad…
Well, at least Lexie meant early Anita rather than later…whew.
I heart the faerie porn, actually. Since it started out being porn it doesn’t annoy me like new Anita does. And Doyle??? SHEW! *needs firehose*
Anita, though… damn. I sort-of like the last one, with Edward, but everything from Narcissus to then was pretty much worthless, imho.
Yeah, the earlier Anita Blake ones are fab. Up til about Obsidian Butterfly, then you can skip a few … unless you heart the metaphysical pr0nz too.
I love the detective stuff though!

*LOL*
Yanno, I’ve been compared to Anita as well, which is a real compliment in my book. Especially the early Anita, not so much the later gushy, ardour-having Anita.
