mercuryMercury goes direct in Capricorn on February 1st and Virgos and Geminis whoop for joy.

It is notable Mercury in Capricorn is in mutual reception with Saturn in Virgo and if you happen to be learning astrology on this blog right now you are going to have a very solid foundation! Whatever you are doing with your mind right now – it’s serious and if you do a good job it’s bound to pay off long term.

Any disciplined thinking / communicating is extremely favored right now and there are many ways to take advantage. Er… studying body language would be an example. My writing (Mercury) about astrology as an elder (Saturn) is another example. When I do consultations, I often have 30 minutes to convey something useful and this is a discipline.

What are you thinking about / learning right now?

horn.jpg“P, I’m pulling out but that dog is in front of me. He’s just standing in front of my truck looking at me and I’m afraid I’m going to have to blow the big horn to get him to move.”

“Oh no, that’ll scare the hell out of him.”

“I know it but he’s not moving. I don’t know why someone would get rid of a dog like that… I hope he’s not some trucker’s dog who got dumped. I hope he belongs to someone around here.”

Demystifying Astrology: What Is A Orb? What Is An Aspect?

January 30th, 2009 @ 8:27 am by Elsa

Know anyone who wants to learn astrology? Send them here: See all beginner posts

aspects-astrology.gifWhen you hear, “Venus is in aspect to Mars” this means there is a mathematical connection between the two planets. We are talking about standard geometry here. A 90 degree angle is a “square”, a 180 degree angle is an “opposition”… etc.

You can see cheat sheet on aspect here. I urge beginners to focus on the Major aspects first (Conjunction, opposition, trine, square, sextile… plus the inconjunct or quincunx, terms which are interchangeable) and now we are going to think.

sagittarius-stone.jpgI met Vivian about six years ago. The first thing you notice about Vivian is she is not very attractive. If you think I am a jerk, think again.

I want you to know Vivian and the way I do and her appearance is a marked part of her presentation. There’s that but there is also Vivian herself who is well aware of how she looks. She is also a Sagittarius, known for candor and she has no qualms whatsoever about discussing this.

Vivian has four kids and I remember the first time I met one of her daughters. The girl was jaw-droppingly beautiful and I said so.

dora-in-car-sm.jpgI got a picture of a dog on my phone and then the soldier rang me from a truck stop. “Did you get that picture of the dog I sent.”

“Yeah, that’s a good lookin’ dog.”

“He’s hangin’ around, P. Why is he doin’ it?”

I waited for the punch line.

“I told him, I’m sorry but Dora’s already married… she’s engaged to Cluck.”

I laughed. “That poor dog.”

“Yep, he’s poor all right and he won’t go away. He’s just standin’ there looking at me, he won’t move an inch.”

Mars In The Workplace And Those Damned Italians Again

January 29th, 2009 @ 4:44 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

marsRemember the soldier and his boss who was always havin’ kittens? Well this boss is Italian as is his daughter who works in the office with him. It was me who sensed something, told me he ought to go meet this gal in person and he decided to take my advice. (swearing below the break)

battle_of_castillon.jpgThe Moon moves into Aries and squares Pluto and if you get in a fight it’s likely to be dirty. A dirty fight but one that can probably be avoided courtesy the support the Moon enjoyed from the Sun and Jupiter in Aquarius.

Note that Venus and Mars are still in the signs of their exaltation (and is easy aspect) but this situation only lasts a few more days so best enjoy it. Specifically men and women are getting along right now and it’s been nice.

If you want proof, I’ve not fought with the soldier for a month however when Venus hits Aries (loves to fight) and sets off the grand cross between our charts, that is sure to change. Mars will be going into Aquarius (more change) so the eruption will occur when it damn well pleases and you get the idea. All hell is about to break loose.

When one person suffers is another one spared?

From Wikipedia:

“Elizabeth Ann Smart (born 1987) was abducted from her Salt Lake City, Utah bedroom on June 5, 2002 at the age of 14. She was found alive nine months later on March 12, 2003 in Sandy, Utah, about 18 miles from her home, in the company of Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Ileen Barzee, who were indicted for her kidnapping but ruled unfit to stand trial. Her abduction and recovery were widely reported in North American media and internationally and were the subject of a made-for-TV movie and a published book.”
