Zodiac People: Who Is Your Favorite Aries On The Planet?
Ask the collective
I have been involved with astrology all my life and I have my favorite specimens of each of the signs. I thought it would be interesting to run through the signs naming these people and have others come up with their own offering.
For Aries, I nominate Lowell George. He’s an Aries with Venus and Mercury in Aries and while he’s been dead for many years, he literally laid one of the cornerstones of my life with his song, “Fat Man In The Bathtub”.
I’d have never known this had my friend and editor, HQ not asked me a probing question some years ago. He was helping me put my book together and in the process he found it necessary to figure out how I got the way I was. I had never pondered the question before but had the answer almost instantaneously. I told him I got my personality from music.
As an example I told him I heard Lowell George sing this song, “Fat Man In the Bathtub”. I told him I liked the song… I thought it was funny but what I really liked was Lowell George himself. And Lowell George in the song, liked Juanita!!
Juanita is the gal who tells Lowell to come back, Monday in the first part of the song:
“Spotcheck Billy got down on his hands and knees
He said “Hey momma, hey let me check your oil all right?”
She said “No, no honey, not tonight
Comeback Monday, comeback Tuesday, then I might”
I explained to HQ that if I wanted a man like Lowell George (and I did) I thought I better be Juanita, so I adopted her attitude on the stop although I did write my own lines.
I was a bartender, right? Well lemme tell you, bartenders get asked out all the time so I took to answering every appeal like this:
“No, but don’t quit asking!” I’d say cheerily.
Eventually, I got famous for this. People would literally bring their friends in to ask me for a date just to hear me say my line. I’ve got the Capricorn, maaan. I can reject you, make no mistake!!
Aries is well known to like a challenge so you see when Juanita provides one, he becomes inflamed! Ha ha ha.
Now the Juanita persona is authentic to me. What really happened is I left the desert and went out in the world and found role models who resonated with my true self but I have never lost my affection… my deep love for Lowell George. I love him for loving me / my type. A man who doesn’t fall over just because a woman has a mouth on her? Gimmie, gimmie.
Also notice this band is racially mixed back when that was pretty much unheard of. A man ahead of time… a leader!

Oh I have always loved this song! I have a couple favorite Aries, my two best friends are Aries, one with a scorp. moon, the other with a sag. moon. I just love them, they don’t take any shit, and they have such lovely fresh up for anything energy. Go Go Aries!

if Giovanni RIbisi brings me a cheeseburger he can be my second favorite aries. or Ewan Macgregor. Bach would be on my list of aries faves but I’m not holding out on the cheeseburger due to the whole been-dead-a-long-time thing.

I think this is a very cool idea, to have a favorite example of a sign, i.e., to (sort of) remember the best (or perhaps the worst) of each sign by. Still, I think it’s impossible. 1/12th of the planet is Aries or something. Still, I know Aries. Aries and fire signs are all over my family. And, it’s hard not to love all of the people mentioned herein. It’s one of my favorite things: to look over a list of, say, famous people who have a certain rising sign, or Sun/Rising combo, and I’ll say to myself, yep, self, we knew we really liked all of these particular people for some mysterious reason.
My BFF, Em. She’s really the only Aries that I KNOW though. We lived together in an 8×8 room one summer when we were working on a private yacht. How can you not bond over something like that? It was a short, intense time, made all the more intense by her Fire and my Air…. Oh my God we were so much trouble. I can honestly say that she changed my life.

I don’t know many Arieses in real life. But since I’m a Sex and the City fan, I’d say Sarah Jessica Parker. Perhaps because she has the same birthday as I do, but also… I mean look at her: she’s an actress, fashion icon, she has her own clothing line… Typical Aries energy just GO GO GO!

No, seriously… That would have to be my hubby. Though he usually seems more Cancer than Aries, but then he uses his Cancer Moon a lot around me.

Just thought of an Aries I was always fond of – Linda Goodman!
I didn’t learn anything substantial about reading charts or transits from her, but I sure did absorb a lot about the meanings of the signs from her growing up, truth be told. And I liked her cheesy but ebullient writing style.
I can’t believe I don’t have a single Aries Sun friend in real life. It seems impossible. Fond of my Aries rising sister though, and my Aries Venus best friend.

My Hubby has his sun in Aries and his moon in cancer (moon is conjuct saturn).

I am an aries and as I mentioned once I would rather not be I used to think there were no adult aries women when I was a kid…now that I have met adult aries women I have noticed something VERY odd they are all married to Cancers (me too) I have 8 ladies in mind (no kidding!) and my other longterm relationship was Aries Cancer moon?? Any ideas on this anyone??

) And William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. “To boldly go where no man has gone before”…My favorite Aries has in a typical Aries manner gone missing. He always disappears for his birthday. My second favorite at the moment is Nancy Pelosi. In a true Aries manner she took the lead and, managed to herd a bunch of cats into passing health care reform.
I’m just gonna say that, other than my *cough* sister-in-law, I find Aries a fantastic sign. I’ve worked well with and developed good friendships with this sign. No complaints.
