“Well I’ve been in a low mood,” I told the soldier on the phone.

“Don’t do that, P. If you feel sad, Dora feels sad. If you’re scared, she gets scared.”

“Yeah, if I am afraid she does get scared.”

“That’s because she knows they always get the dog first.”

I laughed.

“Yeah, they’ll come in and she’ll tell ‘em go ahead. Take the furniture. I won’t say anything. Take it.”

I roared.

“Come on,” she’ll say. “Come on, I’ll show you where the stuff is, follow me.”

“Oh for Godsakes.”

“P, you know she’ll do it. That dog is treasonous. She is the most treasonous dog you’ll ever meet, she’d done it to me a million times.”

He went on to tell me Dora was the only treasonous person in his life at the moment. I have none.
