Do you shop Amazon for Christmas?
If you’ve no preferable charity and you shop there anyway, if you access Amazon from the box above and then do your shopping as usual, I will get a commission on everything you buy… sort of like sending me a free tip.

Thank you, bew and that’s a good joke. I rarely make anything from Amazon (average less than $2 a month) but one Christmas (2 years ago) I did have some clicks and enough items were bought it raised the percentage and started to add up.
I don’t make much off it obviously so don’t have exact details but it;s something like 5% and then if 6 items are purchased, it goes up to 6% and so forth.
In whatever case a lot of people do shop there and it’s a little bit of trouble to use the link but not that much and it does (or it would) add up if people did this for me.

CRAP. I just received an Amazon order last night (astrology books even!), and I almost never buy from there. But next time I will do that for sure.
Actually I remember now, that one Christmas, it was almost entirely due to Scott. He buys on Amazon virtually every week and for awhile there was coming off my page to do so.
Unfortunately he is not too happy about my association with the soldier so he quit using the link. ::sighs:: No more five dollars for Elsa!!

isthmus – the low tech way is search for any book or movie title you’ve seen on this blog and if you click the link it will take you to Amazon with the code embedded. From that point anything you buy will get me a kickback.
goddess – I have asked the mechanic for this and if he does it, then it will solve isthmus’s problem as well.

Okay, I added a text link at the bottom here. Have not heard back from the mechanic re: putting something on the side bar.. I don’t know how to do it myself. I tried but it appears he’s got it un-writeable ??? which would be smart on his part of course, less I go in there and do God knows what!
np! The other thing is I do all my shopping on Amazon’s Canadian site, so I’m not sure if clicking to the American site via a link here and then switching to the Canadian site will support you. Perhaps a direct link to Amazon.ca could be added for Canadian readers?

Though it was a bit scary: when I clicked the new text link above, the amazon.com site opened, and there was a big Austrian(!) flag, with the question “Shopping from Austria?” and a direct link to amazon.de.
How the hell do they know where I come from???
Two people asked me about this so here are more precise instructions…. (cut and pasted from email)
“click the canada link at the bottom which will take you to Amazon and then do your shopping. Enter what you want in the search box, etc and I will be automatically credited as referring the customer… get a percentage of whatever you buy.
I think it is 4% and if more than 6 items are purchased (by anyone put together) in a calendar month, the percentage moves to 6%

I love Amazon and use it all the time, so I’d be happy to access it thru your link, Elsa. Now I wish I’d waited a week longer to order that juicer that just arrived today! ;p
too bad I didn’t know this yesterday as I just spent about 400 bucks with amazon.com. does it include amazon.com? i frequent that a lot for books and DVDs.
If you could get a gig going along these lines to get some kind of kick back from E-bay … now that would be a crying shame if you already have that given that I have spent approximately 3 K on ebay in the last 31 days.
Loon, the big red box is connected to amazon.com, the link below is also connected to amazon.com. I added amazon canada by request… and all you have to do is get to amazon by one of those links (or virtually any other movie or book I have linked on this site) and then anything you buy on that visit there will give me a commission as a referrer.
I will definitely do my amazon shopping through that link from now on…that is certainly easy enough!
Have you tried seeing if you can do that link advertizing thing or whatever it is, and get comissions for people shopping at e-bay also? That could really bring in some nice commissions for you…I just saw my total for the months (this is rare for me thank God)…$3,069.69, (lotto anyone?) I wish you could have had a little commission on That months!
(well, basically my holiday shopping is over. I did everything early according to an astro-tip I got somewhere which strongly suggesting for certain signs, that everything be done by and before the full moon of around Dec 13th, including shipping. So I am.)
But still, I am going shopping on amazon later today (because an 8 year old boy whose life I am very happy to be involved in, even though [regretablly] it is from a distance) well, he has developed an addiction for the “Walter the Farting dog” book series, and they are almost 20 bucks a pop. He only has two, “Walter the farting dog goes to the garage sale” and “Walter the farting dog goes to the beach.” I think there are like, 20 more at least.

Elsa – will it stay at 6% or does it recalibrate ever month?
Recalibrate each month..
1-6 items – 4%
6-30 items – 6%
31- 110 items – 6.5%
etc.
Apparently you can get up 8.5 but that is at the 3000 items a month level.
Still 6% adds up pretty damned well when people are Christmas shopping…
O.k. If e.g., I have something to buy that I could get in November, or wait until December, I guess it’s better to just get it this month, when you know you’ll get 6% of it? Or help you get back up to 6% next month? My deal is I buy only small things from Amazon but on a fairly regular basis, with somewhat flexible timing. Maybe it doesn’t matter, but if you find that we can be useful thru timing of purchases, as well as simply by making the purchase, I’m happy to keep that in mind as well.
bew – I am so happy people have responded to this, it doesn’t matter. I ask this every year and it’s the first time people have ever responded. I think it’s a good sign… we are all going to have to work together – support each other, this is all there is to it.

I would not know until the next day… they update the thing daily (I think) overnight. In whatever case it is not immediate and they don’t notify you or anything. In other words, I have to sign on and look if I want to see anything, so in this case I could sign on tomorrow.
Now the other thing is the dates are wonky because they don’t pay until they ship which would be obvious I guess. Because people do cancel stuff but basically this does work and very well.
I used to write for a large site (blogcritics) and they were supported almost entirely by amazon referrals and google ads… but mostly amazon. Every article published had a link, see… they did really well.
They recently got bought out… maybe google bought them, I don’t remember. But this is a good way to support people who produce content you enjoy.
yes yes, then if it were me I’d find a way to link a book or a video into everything I wrote heh heh. Cuz amazon does music videos and DVD also, I’m sure you know. Amazon is where I get most all of my DVD serieses.
Updating you guys… as of this morning, I have earned $12 in referral fees, with half of what you ordered (collectively) having shipped. This means, it’s probably twice that once everything ships and this is is damned good if you think in percentages (I do!) considering I usually make less than a $1 a month.
It seems reasonable I could cover the costs of hosting this site on these referral fees if this were to keep up. Everybody happy, even Amazon!

People have order 29 items in Nov. through this link – Thanks! I am now at 6% commission and if 31 items are ordered (calender month) it moves to 6.5%. The total commission at the moment is $23 but they don’t calculate that until the things ship and not everything has so the total is higher. Not sure how much higher because it’s dependent on the cost of what has been purchased and this info is not handy from the screen I can access..

I went to the Amazon logo on your sight where the little jars is ? Then it clicks you to the Amazon sight as long as you start at your sight you get credit right ?

Daemoness – thank you, I do have a wish list (you can find a person’s wish list by searching their name on amazon) but there is nothing on it. I rarely want anything (tangible) so I only have something on there every year or so… every couple years, I want something.
This does not mean I don’t want resources because I do like to buy things for the people in my life and survive of course. 
But I really have very little desire for things that are not essential – I am just Henry-esque in this way.

The commission is kind of low. I think it should be about 15%. The 24 hour session is not that great either. It should be about a week. However, there is a high click/conversion rate for Amazon. Amazon is good at getting customers to buy. Most clicks probably end up coming back after 24 hours to purchase the item. I really don’t like the Amazon affiliate program, but it is abundant with products.
