“Act? Oh come on.”

“You come on. You have an act and you know it.’

‘Are you telling me you see through my act?”

“Yes, I see through your act. I’ve known you since you were 17!”

“Well what’s underneath my act then?”

“Well I think you love me,’ he said.

“Well yeah but my love is an act?”

“Yeah you love me but you put some other things in there. Some pepper and some cajun spice.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said. We were in the bathtub of course.

“The hell.”

Having no defense, I changed the subject.
