Last week I mentioned Judge Roy Bean and Lillie Langtry, the woman he idolized. The soldier told me he related to Bean’s personality (he was he hanging judge) and that his love for me is as enduring and all encompassing Roy’s love for Lillie whom he’d never met (Venus Neptune).
He thought we should see the movie so I got it so we had it on hand today… the day it’s star, Paul Newman died.
I have always liked Paul Newman but I have never in my life been as impressed with a philanthropist as I was the day Newman went on the Oprah show (about 10 years ago) and explained he’d be dying. Yep. He told Oprah he was getting old and asked her if she might take over his charities when he died. Now how cool is that?
It was one of the most heartening things I had ever seen in my life. Turns out some people not only know how to live well, they also know how to die (well) and seeing as this has been my ambition since I was 8 years old… well if he can do it, I can do it and that’s all I have to say.
What do you have to say about Paul Newman?

I think he was a truly class act and one of the best examples of Aquarian energy out there.
Why do you say 8 years old, Elsa? Isn’t that about the age you got into astrology, too?
I love how I said “out there” when referring to Aquarian energy. It was unintentional.
When I was a little girl – about five, I think – the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid came out in theaters. It was my favorite movie! So much so that my mom took me repeatedly to the drive in so we could see it, and for years whenever it was on television, we watched it. Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, the theme song, was the first song from the radio I learned all the words to.
His philanthropy only made me seem to me beyond the usual star trapping crap we see today. That he stayed married to his wife for 50 years made him seem better than any man I’ve known in my whole life, since my experience is they all leave in one way or another. He just seemed to CARE about something beyond the end of his nose, and I’ll miss knowing he is somewhere in this world, but I am glad he is free of the body that was so ill.
Godspeed, Butch. See you on the other side.
He had the most amazing blue eyes that were able to express the entire range of human existance and send it out to you.
By the time I was old enough to appreciate movies that had more plot than “Ghostbusters,” Mr. Newman had stopped making films. God, how impoverished I was without knowing it!
“…that his love for me is as enduring and all encompassing Roy’s love for Lillie whom he’d never met (Venus Neptune).”
Do you think that can be true love? “whom he’d never met.” ? Guess, like you say Elsa, it’s a heavy Pisces/Neptune/12th House phenomenon. OPEN QUESTION then I guess: when is it destructive and delusional and when is it a higher and nobler manifestation? How do you tell the difference? How do you do it right if you’re prone to it? And, as an aside: Is it this that kept the soldier and you connected all those years?

i’m going to miss him…
I’d have to think about all that stuff, Busted and I will if I can but right now we are making plans for the apocalypse. But my short answer:
It’s probably all those things at once… depending on which dimension you are in at the moment..
I think he’s inordinately lucky to have found his calling so early in life and to have found Joanne. What he did with his luck was the astounding part, though – he could have let the fame destroy his talent and his marriage, but somehow he kept his priorities real and in line for all those years and gave back in spades. Class and integrity all the way.
Magi Astrology has a fascinating section on his synastry with Joanne.
The apocalypse? I know things are shaky right now, but do you know something we don’t?
I think he was the personification of what is so
inspiring about Aquarius. Appeared to do his own
thing in his own way, with no need to hurt, anyone
doin it. Alot of the time”maverick” type people can hurt others, and not even realize it, or if they do, they don’t care. Paul Newman seemed to be a total class act, I think we could use alot
more of his type in the world today.
Definitely seemed like a really classy guy – the kind of person who makes the world a better place just by being in it.
I actually cried when I heard. And (this is the weird part) I never saw his movies. I didn’t know a thing he did. I didn’t know that all the proceeds of his dressing goes to charity–all of it.
Never saw Oprah. But he was amazing. Amazing.
I don’t know why I think this way but I do have 12H Neptune trine Venus and am highly affected by certain currents.
To Die well? Now that is some food for thought. Perhaps I am already leading up to that but it just never occurred to me.
He was an honorable Gentleman, of which there are too few in this world.
He sparkled. Was such a good man. The one quote I heard from him will always make my heart melt: After being asked about being unfaithful he said, “Why go out for a hamburger when you’ve got the steak at home?”

it’s hard not to admire Paul Newman for putting his money to work in such productive ways, such as his Newman’s Own line–high quality stuff and the proceeds go to good causes… very smart.

He was one of the good guys! Here in Conn. many children have had the opportunity to go to his camp and received other benefits from sales of his products. We will miss him.
