justice2.jpg“Well you meet these victims all the time and I do not,” I told the soldier in bathtub.  “I meet them too but I get away from them as soon as I can.  Because for one thing, I know if they are going to be the victim, they’ll make me the perp.”

“How do they do that?”

“Easy. Simple. I am talking about people who think nothing is their fault, ever.  They hang all the negative stuff on people like me and you, easy as pie.  Like you’ve told me a million times, you can’t get accused of anything because as soon as you do, you’re guilty. You’ve got tattoos!  You’re an ex SF guy. You know how those men come home from war and kill their wives or their girlfriends?  Every now and then one of them does and it makes the news.”

“I think just as many civilian men kill their women as do men in the military.”

“Probably right but here’s the thing.  We hear about these men, crazy from the war who come home and kill their women so let’s say a soldier is married and his wife wants out and needs to swing the vote or the public opinion.  All she has got to do is say this guy is a shithead and that’s it.  The whole world is going to believe her. They are going to think, that poor woman.  That brute came home and blah, blah, blah, no matter what he did.  Mental cruelty! I just can’t see how the man could win in that circumstance, it’s very simple. Piss off your wife and you’re history.  So you would be this kind of figure.”

“That’s true.”

“Right.  So these people who like to be everyone’s victim, I steer clear of them because I don’t feel like standing in as their perp but there is an even bigger reason I avoid them like the plague.”

“What’s that?”

“They’re boring! They are the most boring people in world.  A couple days ago I put a John Prine song on my blog. He sings, how the hell can a person go to work in the morning; come home in the evening and have nothing to say? Now that is a bore!  And these victim types are just as bad. Apparently they have none their whole life and never done anything wrong. How about that? They are 40 years old and they have never had a dark thought. Give – me – a – break!” I said, rolling my eyes. “They’ve done nothing themselves but all their lives people have done things to them, so yeah.  As far as I am concerned, victims are among the most boring people on earth and I avoid them all costs.”

Sometimes people who don’t say a lot just have a rich inner life they don’t feel the need to share. And, sometimes people who DO say a lot are incredibly boring. Same with people who cannot stand being ordinary, you would think that would not be boring, but the predictable dramatics do get boring after a while. I guess I’m saying there are lots of kinds of boring.

But I do agree, people who constantly complain are boring, and also give me a beaten-down kind of feeling.

I’ve known some who complain they are always made out to be the bad guy, then do something heinous, or cut you off in a clean kill, and say, if you want to make me the bad guy, go ahead. I think the point is they don’t want to share. Period. There’s no room for juicy interaction. This isn’t just boring, it’s a relationship buster.

I think I started to grow up when I finally began to acknowledge all the dark stuff that swirls underneath my surface. Anger, jealousy, control..I got it all, big time. Trying to use this energy in a constructive way isn’t easy. But if I want to happy and sane, I don’t have much choice!

I think there is a big difference between actual victims and people who play the victim and who repress their own darkness which is what this dude is complaining about. Thing is. some people have more dark than others and some are more innocent. And some have never had a chance to be innocent because of actual perps. Which do exist. And they do those things for lots of reasons but that doesn’t make what they do right. People are responsible for their own actions. I’m not sure if this guy or the self-proclaimed victims he sees really get that. It sounds like he may not – watersign like, want to take responsiblity – they are evasive.

Anyway I hear wounded moon from this dude speaking of self-made victims. Maybe he could benefot form counselling.

Although I empathize with him re: people asssigning the evil role to you when you’ve fought for your country… that that sucks having that crud tarred all over one with a wide brush.

His moon I think complains too much. I hear wounded dude who doesn’t want to admit his own weakness and that goes with the moon in scorp now, doesn’t it? Maybe he beat some woman and she blew the whistle on him? Or maybe not… Who knows?

I dunno, I’m getting the spoor of lot of air, prolly Libra. Whoooole lots of taking the other side there.

Aqualyra, unless I’m reading my dialogue wrong, it wasn’t the solider talking as much as it was Elsa explaining why she stays away from “victims.” (In quotations because everyone’s reading something different into this.) Do you get a different take if you assume it’s a woman talking? I’m just curious. :)

I can’t really say much about perpetual victims, I also tend to stay away from them. I just can’t handle that much drama, personally. But as someone that often used to come home with not much to say about work, though, I can attest that it’s because much of it was routine, hum-drum, everyday crud and some of it that wasn’t was protected by confidentiality clauses. Let a new person or one of our more interesting patients come in, though, and I could chatter up a storm!
