Vidroid And His Quirky Aquarian Friend: How My Son Became A Man – Maybe You’ll Learn Something Too
Astrology in real life
Vidroid, my son. 8th house Sun conjunct Saturn in Taurus.
On Vidroid and the severing of his friendship with the Quirky Aquarian, you need the back story.
Vid went to a school for the gifted (along with my daughter) during 1st and 2nd grade. I had to pull him out the summer before 3rd grade due my family hardship stemming from my daughter’s illness. He really did not want to leave this school. He is a Taurus and hates change but besides that he’d just gotten used to the place.
See, Vid was not all that interested in school initially. He had to test to get into this school and I remember taking him to the interview (he was 4). He sat there and ust jerked everyone’s chain beyond belief. For example they asked him to recite the alphabet.
“A, B, C. D…” he said before looking confused. “Um… um… er, is it L? Is the next one FOUR? Is it SEVENNNNN?”
The adults in the room (there were three of us) stared. “Vid, can you say the alphabet or not?” I asked sternly.
“As you wish,” he said quoting Star Wars with a straight face. I just shook my head.
He went on to answer the questions, he got into the school and when he got to 1st grade, he was a total screw off. It was as if he didn’t know he would be inside sitting at a desk all day, wtf? It was as if he’d rather have been a slave… I mean at least they’re outside!
The teacher liked him. She had taught my daughter whom she adored but to be completely candid, Vid didn’t do very well. Well enough, but not very well.
2nd grade he had a change of heart. He had the same teacher and she said it was like teaching a different kid. He hit his stride for some reason and became (one of the) rock stars in the class.
I say “one of them” because where my daughter is a solo act, my son is very willing to raise other people’s boats which is exactly what he did.
He had a girlfriend (Melanie) and a core group of 3 friends (boys) so just in general (outside of the extreme stress at home) he was doing well and he devastated when I told him I was going to have to pull him out. Yep. He was not going to be able to attend this school with his friends the following year.
Now it sounds harsh but we are a family and right or wrong, fair or otherwise things happen. Things that force you to sacrifice for the sake of your family that’s all there is to it. Money was not the problem, the school is free. It was the commute.
There was no bus service to this school which meant parents had to drive and after 6 years of successful carpooling, I lost my carpool, again due my daughter and there was just no way I could this manage alone while caring for her. I was back and forth to her school at least 10 trips a week at the time, plus the doctors, plus the hospital(s) and I just had no choice but to put Vid in the school close to home where he could ride the bus.
I had to do this so he had to do this and Vid started 3rd grade, a very, very unhappy boy and I mean we are talkin’ SAD.
Me? Well I felt like crap. I was bending over backwards making my best effort. I was only managing about 5 hours of sleep a night, doing everything in the world possible to do yet both my kids were miserable which is just not the way it’s supposed to be.

This rings a bell… Damn. From your accounts, Vid is taking this in stride, though. Good to hear.

I’m quite glad we get to hear, as I know a story such as this has a lot to teach us…but I feel sad, too.
I was moved a few times as a kid for various reasons, and I found it very, very hard to deal with. The move in the middle of grade 6, when my parents insisted we give the dog away (we had her for almost my whole childhood) the hardest.
(I’m a Taurus too, square Saturn)
