Sun Conjunct Saturn @ 9 Years Old – Severing A Friendship With The New Moon Conjunct Saturn
Astrology in real life
My son severed his friendship with the the quirky Aquarian this weekend and it’s been an enormous challenge for me as well as a learning experience that is unparalleled in my lifetime. I am going to try to write about this so you can judge the situation yourself but the upshot is this:
Sometimes a child really can make the best call. In this case, the 9 year old was not only able to read the situation better than his mother, he had the courage and strength of his convictions to to take appropriation action in spite of it being painful and difficult.
Because energy is neutral until directed, you can’t say this about all Sun Saturn, or heavily Capricorn children but I can tell you for sure that in some cases these kids really are inordinatly equipped to run their lives.
Specifically I am suggesting it is possible that some of of these kids are better equipped their parents to judge things and make good choices and this is the case when it comes to my son and his mother. As a parent, most of us want our children to operate beyond our own abilities and what I learned this weekend is my son has already achieved this.
I would say I am humbled but I really am not. What I feel is a great deal of love and pride and appreciation for who this kid is and the fact he is in my life.
I am clearly meant to learn from him and while he needs my love, there is very little for me to teach him. He just lives somewhere beyond me and that is all there is to it. I am so glad he is kind because if not he’d be a very dangerous little boy, he is just that sophisticated.

It appears that kids seem to take our best and worst stuff and improve on it. Usually for the far better. I am always humbled by my kids goodness and ingenuity in the world. I credit you with giving him the tools, E.
I understand this very well. Two of my three children are like this. I just don’t know how I got them and how they are so wise and good. My daughter turned fifteen yesterday.
We were talking about financial success a few weeks ago. I told her I thought she would be wealthy or at least very much ok financially. She assured me that if that holds true she will always have a place for me to live if I want it. This came from a place of pure love with her and not judgment about my lack of financial success. I am humbled by her beautiful spirit.
Of course I’m holding out hope for my eldest who is good at his core but just doesn’t know what to do with himself at this stage of life and for my young step son who is a sun/Saturn kid but does not yet exhibit the grace and wisdom that your son embodies.
Hi Elsa, you write “As a parent, most of us want our children to operate beyond our own abilities and what I learned this weekend is my son has already achieved this.”
What if the parent does not have the wonderful insight you have and she thinks “uh oh this child is going beyond my own ability therefore I have to restrict her as much as I can before she does”? Sun conj Saturn square Moon here.
This is what happened to me and believe me I am very very happy for your son whose capabilities are acknowledged and valued.
anesa, there are parents who cripple their children for sure.
There are also people who cripple their friends, their lovers and anyone else they can find so if you don’t want to suffer, I’d say you have to defend… all faces of Saturn.
I’ll tell you, in this situation it took me several days to catch on the the rightness of his action and it’s a miracle I did not thwart him with my (lack of) genius.
I fully agree, Elsa. You have more choice with your friends and lovers than with your parents when you are very young, which might make it harder. But of course for Sun/Saturn people any experience makes them more mature at a younger age. And we do get very good at defending ourselves even if you have to pay the price of being less spontaneous, etc.
But such is life. And I am not a victim nor crippled so I’m OK, one learns how to be happy with little. Just a bit envious of your son, perhaps!
As we’re approaching a Sun/Saturn by transit, remember that Sun/Saturn people are living this everyday!
my son has a saturn/moon conjunction. and even as a toddler there were some decisions i just had to let him make for himself. particularly his willingness to take risks- he knew his abilities better than i did (crazy little mountain goat rock climber, and way more coordinated than i ever was) so my challenge is to figure out where to support, where to place the boundaries. he can’t assess risks as well as he can what he can do, so he can’t see where the risk is too extreme to chance the potential for him to slip up- which he doesn’t do often….
but, yeah, he’s pretty good at figuring out what he can do. not quite so aware of how the world around him will respond, though.
love that marble, by the way!
Catching up on things, but wow. How cool is he?! I’m proud from a distance, and glad he has a mom who gets it. <3
