The First World War almost didn’t happen because there was a lot of talk about workers’ international solidarity at the time. Patriotic brainwashing won out in the end though (which is another thing I just don’t get), and people queued up to enlist.

All wars are pointless, they just make the crisis worse before a solution can be found (or so that one can be found). Nothing was ever solved by a war.

Yeah, I definately don’t get it.. If he got his legs blown off it would just be karma (not that I want it to happen I should add). It might even be a good thing because it would make other young men think twice before joining up. Makes me sad.

i’m grateful there are people who are willing to enlist and fight. enormously, incredibly grateful because without them, i wouldn’t live in a place where people are free to critisize wars if they see fit.

i cannot fathom what some parents do to their children. nor do i particularly want to be able to do so.

Goddess, my point is that if we had smart leaders who were able to sort out conflicts without resort to war then you would also be able to live in a place where people are free to criticize wars, and without the war. The two aren’t incompatible.

I know this is hopelessly idealistic, but nobody even seems to contemplate that it’s possible, as if war was going to be with us forever. Doesn’t have to be like that you know..

Yes, I know there is always going to be Mars energy around, but there are ways of dealing with it. Some people are too weak to fight back but they manage (quite well some of them). Think of the way smart women manage bullying men..

Well to me it’s like thinking as a woman that you are going to be able to negotiate yourself out of a rape…. and we are going to be able to do this is in all circumstances, across the world, everybody at once and that is just not going to ever happen.

There is a drive in men to conquer and it’s just not going away.

There are plenty of things I don’t understand, but the Soldier’s story isn’t one of ‘em. Poor man, though. . .. *sigh*
I don’t understand: people who like lettuce but hate peanut butter, pedophiles, the movie “May,” scat fetishes, those goldfish that look like they have brain tumors, yap-yap dogs, religious fundamentalists, and brainless wonders. And that’s just off the top of my head.
