Open Question: Dating Or Marrying Your Astro-Twin – Good Idea Or No?
Ask the collective
Dear Elsa,
I am dating a man who’s birthday is the same day, same month and same year as mine. Is this a good match? How often does this happen?
Cancer Woman
Dear Woman,
It does not happen very often although I see people born within a week of each other fairly frequently and it is hard to say if it is a good match or not.
For me, it would be a terrible match because I want someone odd and unusual and would be bored to tears dating someone so similar to myself. However this tendency is shown my chart and another person may take a lot of comfort being paired with someone very much like themselves.
I would say that traditional astrology would be against the idea, the premise being there is little challenge or opportunity for growth but this really doesn’t hold up in reality because if you are a difficult challenging person and so is he… well then you’re going to have plenty of difficulty and challenge.
Based on all this, it would have to be judged on a case to case basis but really the only judgment that matters is yours.
Are you happy? That right there is the best barometer.

My friend dated a guy with the same birthday/year for a couple of years. They were both Leos. She was the egomanical, dramatic, high maintenance kind and he was oddly a very shy and quiet Leo. They were very different (sorry I don’t know anything else about their charts), but still it didn’t work out well and ended on a bad note. It could be a different experience for someone else though.
I laughed out loud because as soon as I saw the title I thought “Cancer” and that was before I scrolled down. I have a theory that the sign that most gravitates toward like is Cancer. First, I know more Cancer-Cancer married couples than any other (5). Second, the guy I’m dating is a Cancer and knows 7 astro-twins. He’s never dated any of them, but he’s friends with a number of them. In contrast, I’ve never run across anyone in my life born on the same day and year as me!
Jessica – interesting, because I’ve seen more Scorpio-Scorpio pairings than any other sign.
Nina
I think it would depend on the individuals. Perhaps some astro-twins can make something like that work, especially if there’s some Gemini involved. (Twins! Hee!)
But I know it wouldn’t work for me. I can’t even imagine pairing with someone who also has a Cap Moon. *shudder*
You know, I suppose I should add… My fiance and I are both Aries, with birthdays three days apart. BUT… He’s also 10 years older than me.
Vastly different charts, and it works beautifully.
Wow! Well my theory has not been scientifically tested… these are just the same-sign couples in my sphere!
Inadvertently briefly dated several over the years, same month and day as me, but the year varied. Always same result though–I found them very, very, very predictable, and that was SO boring. But, I am an Aries…
But Danielle, that means they were Aries, too, no? I am an Aries and was married to an Aries and have many Aries friends, I must say I have yet to meet a predictable, boring one yet
I know a couple who have the same birthday, but they were born different years. I see two Cancers being happy and cozy and comfortable for a long time. But that’s a very broad idea. I agree with Elsa, it would probably have to be analyzed on a case by case basis, but if Cancer Woman is feels good about it, then why not?
My ex’s birthday is the day before mine but he was a year younger so not my astro twin… but we had very similar charts. I found the things that irritated me about him are the things that I do myself. It was kind of like looking in the mirror and having my faults pointed out daily. Not good.
The guy I’m dating right now & I have the same birthdate – - February 13 but we’re 2 years apart; he’s 2 years older than me. My gut feeling is ‘good’ but would like some perspective on this.
I’m dating someone who is exactly one year younger than myself (both July 19th). I really don’t see that we are the same person…however, we do think along the same lines, but I don’t think that is unusual, or bad.
I really don’t follow astrology too much, but all I know is that we are very happy together, and I think we compliment each other quite well.
Thanks
what about if the ascendant and moon are also in the same sign? – would it mean whatever internal struggles you face would suddenly manifest in your partnership?
Wouldn’t this technically be the best way for the both of you to fulfill your charts? Your individual life lessons?
Hi ther, i have a bf who have the same birthday with me but different year we r LEO, there is alot of strange things happen between us, well it is very unique to me because whenever im busy working then same goes to him, if i got problem i dont why he also got problem, if im having my menstrual then he is the one whos very moody.. It happens all the time.. Whatever happen to me there must be something similar happen to him also. Now he is in london and im in one of the country in asia so the time zone is hugely different, now there is another strange problem happen between us.. I have to ask him to wait for me to wake up in the morning 1st before he go to sleep at night in london because whenever he go to sleep while im sleeping then all of sudden i will be awake.. If he sleep thats mean he wake me up. Its strange things right? Yea.. Just wanna share with you all about my experience.
I’ve been dating a guy with the same birthday for a year. I’ve never been happier. We’re both aries though, so it might vary from sign to sign.
I have been dating my boyfriend for 8 months now. We were born on NOv 9, two hours apart (time zone difference). He has the same name as my real father, is a sleep tech while i study dreams..Lots of similarities between us but so far so good! We seem to be in sync with everything. I love it!
thanks

yah
but luckily there’s a challenge, just enough for personal growth and shift in perspective coupled with lots of mutual understanding, smiles, hugs and empathy. we’re telepathic and strong people. they aren’t born at the same time so ascendants will be different as will be the moon, that’s just enough to keep the magic. check to see if venus is sextile and whether mars and venus conjunct for it not to get boring but add love and sex
