Taking a cue from the grim economy, this fall’s fashions at Banana Republic, Gap and H&M are featuring a distinctly Depression-era trend of cloche hats, pencil skirts, conductor caps and baggy, vintage-style dresses.

One of the most popular styles appears to hark back to the impish, newsboy getup of the 1930s: baggy trousers, caps, pinstriped vests, oxford lace-up shoes and utilitarian handbags…”

Hey does that mean I’ll be in style? FINALLY! Me oh so practical, wear comfortable clothes in natural fibers and finally, finally I’ll be fashionable….

or maybe not. Darn, there is always something a little off about me. I wear scarves (love em) on my head tied under my chin when I ride bike or the segway (our other car) because otherwise my ears get too much wind and I get an earache. People stare at me and think I’m retarded or something…. oh well.

:) At least the thrift store has a good supply of scarves.
