Open Question: Who Will Win The 2008 US Presidential Election?
Ask the collective
The soldier and I were discussing the 2008 Presidential election the other night and yesterday I spoke with Jacquie Bigar on the subject. Now I know one astrologer who feels that Obama will win by a landslide but the soldier, Jacquie and I all feel the choice for Vice President is absolutely critical in this election. So here is 3-part question:
What pairing would make the strongest democratic ticket? How about the republican ticket? And ultimately…
If you are making your selection based on astrology, I would love to hear your reasoning..

I do think Obama has a strong lead, though I agree with you that the running mate will have an extremely prominent bearing on the election. I don’t know who would be good, though, I really don’t (I’m not up enough on my politicians) but I don’t think Hillary Clinton is electable — there are just too many people who hate her (irrationally).
I worry about John McCain, because I despise him, and I wish he would go away, but I just don’t know who would be best for VP.
I am so sorry to say this, but the upcoming Pluto in Capricorn regime says status quo to me. Oppressive status quo, which means that whatever we express at the polls won’t have a hell of a lot to do with the outcome. I hope I’m wrong, but I think we’ve been through this before.
As much as Obama promises, and as much as I want to believe in whatever his JFK-redux PR regurgitates visually, Brooks Brothers blazer casually and calculatedly tossed over his shoulder and all, I can’t help but think this is too little, too late, as we’re in the latter cleanup degrees of Pluto-Sag (different race, background, promises of nebulous, unfettered change, etc.).
For all our purported “progress,” we’re still stuck in an addiction to an economy that promises cheap, easy, oil-addicted, media-addicted, closet-racist instant grats. You and I might find the way things are wasteful and distasteful, but remember that we don’t represent the majority, and somehow got W in for another term… That is assuming that our votes account for anything, anyway.
And in that unlikely case, I don’t think that this country (or the Powers That Be) is yet ready for a white female or black male. And as homespun and addled as McCain seems to be, he represents The Establishment, Pluto in Capricorn, better the devil you know. He masterminded and survived the Keating Five. You think he doesn’t have staying power? That’s what Pluto/Cap is all about.
Please, people, help prove me wrong.
And let’s put it this way… my mother is a lower-evolved control-freak Capricorn. I compare the upcoming regime with what it was like to live under her roof: You’ve got to disappear and go underground if you’ve any hope of happiness. You have to find a friend whose house you can go to to have a beer or express yourself freely, let off some steam, else you’ll find yourself so micromanaged you’ll want to slit your wrists or join the Marines (I did both; my wounds healed, and I found even Marine boot camp to be much less oppressive than my mother).
Why do you feel that the choice of a V.P. is so critical?
Mandelay – I think if Obama chooses a weak VP and McCain chooses a VP with charisma, all bets are off.
I honestly have no idea but I am getting a vibe of surprise or weirdness or WTF.
I chose Republican based on only 3 astrological factors so I may well be wrong. The first is McCain’s natal North Node is 1 Capricorn. On election day transiting Pluto will be 29 Sag and on Inauguration Day (Jan. 20, 2009) transiting Pluto will be exactly conjunct McCain’s North Node at 1 Capricorn.
On election day the Moon will be in Capricorn all day (Moon represents the public and in Cap, their mood will likely be conservative in nature). Also the transiting Moon in Cap will conjunct McCain’s natal Moon on election day.
The transiting Saturn/Uranus opposition will be exact or near exact on election day. Reading Ray Merriman’s web site he notes that every time there was a Saturn/Uranus opposition or conjunction during a US election cycle the Republicans won.
