Yesterday I was discussing the soldier and I’s trip to the desert with astrologer and pal, Claire France. The astrology of this trip is astonishing and we’ve both been at this long enough to know what that means.

“If we get on that plane and die, don’t you give it thought. We are so supposed to be on this specific plane…”

Later it hit me we were flying. The soldier hates to fly. He does not mind jumping out of a plane 200+ times but flying? He hates it.

I realized he didn’t say a word about this when we were booking this trip so when he got home I asked him how long it had been since he flew. It’s been 14 years!

The other thing… we were on Expedia and the first plane only had 2 seats left (another omen). They are not together but I told last night I’d tell the counter gal that we were going back to the place where we fell in love 30 years ago and I was sureeee that would fix that. If I have to, I will stand on the plane and make a speech – appeal to the crowd!

“You tell ‘em, P!”

Anyway, we’re happy! By God, I just don’t know how to feel any better about the idea of us hittin’ that hot pavement like old times.

We are going to see a movie in the same theater we used to go to and he said he would also like to go back and ride some slow horses! Remember them?

“Well our spurs go jingle, jangle, jingle….”

There is some gold gone missing in the area as well. We used to lie around and dream about finding that treasure when we were kids so we may do that as well. The soldier has a thing for treasure – He’s got some and likes to smear his hands around in the coins. He carries his treasure (and he does carry it) in an attache case like some mafia guy with his eyes all shifty.

I stand alongside ready to machine gun whoever, of course.
