Tomatoes Blamed In Salmonella Outbreak… In Error?

tomatoes.jpgTomatoes not alone on FDA’s radar

“As salmonella cases continue to climb, the government is investigating whether tainted tomatoes really are to blame for the record outbreak — or if the problem is with another ingredient or a warehouse that is contaminating newly harvested tomatoes…”

There was been an outbreak of salmonella in the US, starting in April. It has been attributed to fresh tomatoes which were of course pulled from all the grocery store shelves. Interested in this sort of thing, I followed the story.

The tomato industry has been devastated of course. The way things happen to inanimate objects (like tomatoes) is exactly the way things happen to people. One day you’re fine, business a usual, the next day you’re in a crisis with no idea when it will end.

Open Question: Dealing With Transits

astrobook1.jpgDeirdre Tanton writes:

One thing about being an astrologer is, I see my transits coming. I have a pact with myself to put a helpful spin on the matter; this does not come naturally I admit. I have learned this the hard way — from wasting precious time being unnecessarily scared. Plus it used to be really stylish to write scary astrology books which lacked positive direction. That was just the norm, and that was what I read back then.

Movie Review: A Pisces Take On Love And Wall-E

June 29th, 2008 @ 6:43 am by Elsa

Outtakes and various other sundries

wall-e-poster1-big.jpgsatori writes:

I saw Wall-E this morning, the Pixar movie about the little robot. It’s a love story, possibly the best I’ve ever seen. All you need to know about being a lover you can learn from Wall-E.

There’s nothing special about Wall-E on the outside. He’s battered and dirty but he does the best with what he’s got. When he falls in love with the slick, beautiful probe robot she doesn’t give him a second look. She even tries to blow him up. But what he does is he keeps on bravely being himself. He’s not trying to impress her; he’s trying to PLEASE her. He’s trying to give her any and everything he can think of. In the end she realizes he’s done nothing but show pure love and loyalty all along, and he wins her. Damned if you don’t feel like he completely deserves her and she sure as hell sees his worth. He’s shown himself as a pure soul.

Astrology Today – Conflict

June 29th, 2008 @ 3:27 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky

sleeping-dog.jpgThe Moon in Taurus is purported to be peaceful but considering it’s headed into square aspect with fiery Mars in Leo, your nap may be challenged.

On the flip, waking a sleeping dog may provoke the beast.

Pluto….

June 28th, 2008 @ 5:37 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

tree-smash.jpgThe soldier is going through his old photos and came across these. As the story goes he left his first marriage having lost everything and I mean everything except a computer.

He rented a room in this hovel for $50 a month and THE NEXT DAY this tree fell on his room… smashing the computer of course. The room was covered in crap… pieces of building and there was nothing to do but walk away.

Saturn was conjunct his natal Mercury (setting off his T-square) and Pluto was square his natal Pluto.

For some of us, when the universe wants you to start from nothing, it means start from nothing and I know the feeling. I left my home at 15 wearing a sun dress (I have always been girly) and a pair of rubber thongs. Not only did I not have any money (not a dime), I didn’t even have a purse.

Have you ever started from nothing?

capricornI am going to keep harping on this because I am pretty sure I am right about something – That is that Pluto’s transit through Capricorn is going to shake people at their foundation and unleash powerful feelings of insecurity. As people come unglued one of the ways people will cope is by partnering and I believe this drive has already been shook loose for many.

I am working with clients who have various problems in their relationships they are highly motivated to solve. I am also someone who has problems in relationships that I am highly motivated to solve and I struck me today that every single client I have that is focused on this issue has strong Capricorn. I think this means the goats are the ones highly sensitized to what is ahead.

You know how animals clear out before a tsunami hits?

Astrology Today: The Flavor Over These Next Weeks

June 28th, 2008 @ 8:39 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky

gus busJupiter, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde now so keep that in mind as you try to progress. Essentially it means a there will be a lot of looking back as you go forward… also going to have to bat clean up in certain areas in your life.

As a real life example, the soldier has obviously gone through and entire life change over the last year. He went to school, and drove a truck for a year to be able to get to me. He’s moved across the country and a dozen other things.

We are going forward not but last night he sat down to write a long letter to his son in Iraq to catch him up on the events of the last year. It took him 2 hours to write, but this has got to be done.

So that’s the flavor of these next weeks. Sort of frustrating for fire signs which see little reason for “reverse” and maybe Capricorn who prefers to be achieving at all times. Frustrating but freakishly important and necessary.

“O that’s just P, messin’ with the rhino,” the soldier said.

“Yep, and I see that she’s backin’ him up,” I said.

“I don’t care if you’re a rhino, says P.”

Strange But True – Nothing Good Ever Happens…

June 27th, 2008 @ 4:21 pm by Elsa

Ask the collective

goodbad.jpgHere is the great irony around the soldier’s general stare of happiness. He chocks this up to his past life sin, I credit the cardinal t-square in his chart…

“Do you think anything good will happen?” I asked. “Good for you? Good for us?”

“Nothing good is going to happen to me, but yeah. Good things for us will happen.”

I was momentarily struck. “You don’t think anything good happens for you?”

“No. When has anything good ever happened to me?”

“True. Virtually nothing good ever happens to you…”

I knew this when I got involved with him, you know. I had conversations with friends, “Do you think I should get involved with someone who has all these horrible things happen all the time? Because I can’t see that they’re ever going to stop and if I’m standing right next to him…”

Ha ha ha, as if love gives you a choice. And as if good things happen to me… ::smirk::

Do bad things happen to you? How bad and how often?

Astrology, Thinking And Mercury In The Natal Chart

June 27th, 2008 @ 1:30 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

einstein-god-s-thoughts-posters.jpgThe soldier has Saturn in aspect to Mercury… compared to my Mercury in the 9th (associated with Jupiter) conjunct a hotted up Mars.

“I like to control my thoughts. I don’t like them running all over the place. I like to think of things in a logical order one after another with nothing distracting me.”

“Yeah? My thoughts do run all over,” I said.

“Yeah they do and with high variable,” he said, we were sitting in the bathtub before I got out and he got stuck. “Your thoughts?” He waved his hand in the air in a spiral and then moved it high and low. “They go all over the place with no order to them at all,” he said with that look on his face that assumes I’m crazy but he loves me anyway.

~~

I am currently telling the soldier’s son a series of stories and while they make complete sense to me and (eventually) arrive at a potent (series) of conclusions, I bet you anything he is thinking something similar.

How do you think? Can you see the tendency in your chart?

(The graphic, perfect for Mercury in the 9th house… which Einstein had according to Lois Rodden.)
