To be honest, I don’t enjoy that other people ask my opinion much…

joana, I think people don’t ask others opinions because there are so many opinions out there these days! There has been a lot of energy in Sagittarius over these last years and just look at the explosion in publishing (BLOGS)! I think this is going to shift now. People will start to filter what they read. Quality over quantity, they will discriminate!

For example, we had a freak tornado in Colorado yesterday so I check the weather today and there is a big article about how we could all die from weather. If you pay attention, the article states clearly the weather system has moved out into other states but this does not stop them from writing a provocative title. It’s like they are in the news and want to stay there!

Personally, I have given up all gossip since Saturn went into Virgo. I just don’t have the time for that sort of low (no) reward type reading and what I am getting at is this:

Thoughtful people with something of substance to say are coming into style. Flash and trash – uh uh. Give us something useful, dammit! It does not help me to look at Paris Hilton’s clothes.

Are you filtering what you read these days?

Have you noticed that there is a whole new lineup of young people the media machine wants us to start keeping tabs on. I have no idea who any of these kids are but they’re all over the television and magazine covers and I just refuse to care. I will not learn their names. I will not have an opinion. I learned my lesson, okay? lol

I was going to say no, but I actually am.

I’ve always read loads of books and I still am, so quantity hasn’t declined but the junky but fun novels have really declined, and so too has what I spend on books. I’ve been all about the second hand because I don’t take things back to the library on time and think that that is horribly rude (therefore, no libraries for me) but lately I’m selective about what I’m picking up at the 2nd hand places and only really splurging on goodwill’s half price days . .

And when I had to move I remember thinking on the positive that no roommates would mean I could go back to reading serious books because I’d be able to pay attention to ‘em . .

yeah, the whole goss mill is over for me. at first it was a hard addiction to break. now I care about it very little and I miss it not at all.

I find I’ve let my novel reading go though too. I’m reading non-fiction exclusively lately, wanting to “larn” something. I think that’s something I need to fix. I know I learn just as much from fiction, if not more.

Yes, definitely filtering. Otherwise I’d sink in a sea of information.

Oh yes. On a social networking site that I frequent, I have been using the “Ignore” button like crazy. I just do not want to deal with unkindness, you know?

Yes. In a way I always did–I never cared about Paris or Lindsey or Britney, and just the fact that I know their names goes to show how the media has shoved them down everybody’s throat. But I do find now that I’m reading fewer novels and more non-fiction.

Definitely …even letting go of my reality TV fix, haven’t watched Survivor or the rest in a while.
