Astrology And Vocation: Specialist Or Jack Of Two Or More Trades?

degas little dancerHeather M. writes on the Fix Yourself bit:

“I thought that people should shore up their weaknesses until the past month has passed and specifically the last 48 hours. Because my weaknesses have been highlighted in major ways recently and I am so f*cking tired of feeling bad about myself because of them.

So I am completely inspired by this idea that you don’t *have* to. It’s so simple but like a news flash to me and it makes me feel relief and relaaaaxed.”

I think some people are born to specialize and I am one of them. If your chart is bunched up, this would be strong indication of this.

Am I really interested in anything other than sex and psych, relationships and philosophy? I’m not! So why would I learn to read a horary chart? Surely someone is going to be (naturally) better at that than I am so why not leave this work to them?

Meanwhile if you’re stressed out of your mind, bleeding from every orifice, you should probably come see me because I can speak that language and not only will I not blink, I will most likely have you patched up and back on the road in no time. You may even laugh through your surgery, so I think specializing makes sense for many.

Degas could paint and sculpt but most of us do have something we are good and fare well if we stick to it.

Are you a specialist of a jack of all trades?

I’m still looking for what I’m a specialist at. It’s frustrating to feel like you’re good at a handful of things…not GREAT, just good…and there’s not a one thing that you are just spectacular at.
Not to pass the buck or anything, but I feel like I had a lot of potential as a child in many areas: academics, dance, theatre, art. But my parents were just those content kind of people who didn’t really encourage/support or push me to accelerate in anything. By the time I became a young adult I just kind of gave up on all my hobbies.
Other than that, I do specialize in organization (Leo sun/Cap moon) and like Elsa I have a profound interest in emotions, sex, psychology, philosophy, etc. The basis of anything I love has to do with the arts, the human condition, and the unknown. It’s just a matter of finding my nitch. It feels like my psychological clock is just-a-tickin when it comes to finding my nitch. Aggrrr…..
In the mean time, I’m hoping to find my nitch in teaching.

Call me ‘Jill’– to match the Jack. I can do a great many things fairly well…I specialize in nothing.

I’ve come across this quite a bit recently. Partly within myself since I have no virgo planets. I use the saturn in virgo energy to help shore up the other energies it is in conflict with – my jupiter in pisces and my neptune in sag – which is great and is actually helping to build some real relationships in my life who may help me realize my dreams.. but I ignore the perfectionist side because really I’m not virgo and never will be.
Plus the man I’m dating has moon in capricorn, saturn in virgo and aquarius ruling his 10th house with jupiter and venus in the 10th. He likes being in charge and is good at it. And he organizes people by their natural abilities of who they are and what they are good at, rather than wasting time criticizing people or forcing people who work for him to do work they aren’t good at. With neptune in aquarius and uranus in pisces, this might be the energy that is redirecting the heaby saturn in virgo perfectionism. Why don’t we just all do what we are good at and leave the perfectionists to be perfect!

Oh, I feel this one. My dad asked me a few months ago what I was doing, so he knew what to tell people when they asked how I was. I told him I didn’t know, a bit of this and a bit of that. He explained that in our society NOT having a vocation that we introduce ourselves with means that people don’t know how to “access” you. So he suggested that I tell people that I’m a sex therapist.

Which has had enormously funny results. :D
