wedding-cake.jpgDear Elsa,

I’m trying to plan an informal wedding for this year and the two months we’re looking at are June and October. I’ve looked at the calendar and it looks like Mercury will be all wonky all through both of those months. My question is simply, is it insanity to try to plan for a wedding during a Merc retro period? Are we begging for the cake to go missing, the minister to be hijacked, and all the guests to get lost? Should we consider a different month or go ahead as planned and keep a sense of humor about whatever happens?

Engaged

Dear Engaged, this is absolutely not my area of expertise so you should take what I say with a grain of salt. I am posting this as an open question so others might chime in… but since you asked me, I would never ever get married with Mercury retrograde. ::smiles::

That said, it sounds as if you are drawn to and even may relish the upside-down-ness of it all, so whose is to say?

Further you are talking to someone who got married on April Fool’s Day and yes… that marriage was a joke so it seems to me it is all in how you approach the idea of your marriage. If you are looking for something solemn – well Mercury wonky sounds all wrong to me. But not everyone wants something solemn.

Anyone else?

Perspective Of A Past Life Soldier: South Node In Aries In The First House

April 29th, 2008 @ 9:33 am by Elsa

Commenting on the comments

thin-model.jpgAmber writes on Separated An Entire Saturn Cycle:

“Has the soldier been a man every lifetime? Or could that switch – him being the woman, you being the man, or same sex or whatever? Souls don’t have a gender?”

Amber – this come entirely from him:

He is always a man and always a soldier – he knows exactly who he is. He does not know who I am but is pretty confident we have never met before and thinks I am pretty new (but does not know this for sure).

He says he has never been loved before in any of his lives and is amazed someone loves him this life and he is not sure why this came about. It is and was unexpected and his only thought on this is that perhaps he has finally paid enough of his dues. Prior to this life he did not think this possible and overall it is a puzzle to him why this would occur.

Astrology Today – Odd Emotion

April 29th, 2008 @ 4:34 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky

aquariusThe Moon is unstable in Aquarius conjuncting Chiron, Neptune and the N. node.

Mars also agitates and if you want insight into this pay attention to the meals you eat because nourishment (if you get some today) will come in anything but a brown paper bag.

Dealing With Aries Around Here

April 28th, 2008 @ 7:55 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

cake.jpgThe soldier and I went to Vidroid’s school today for his birthday party. We also wanted to view his love, Belle, which is all we were allowed.

“Are you going to introduce me?” I’d asked him a few days prior.

“No, mom. Just look at her because I’m too shy.”

She’s cute as all get out of course, they sit right next to each other but what was amazing was Vidroid, who introduced the soldier as his “almost step-papa” at the top of his lungs. And it occurred to me that single parents are rarely this lucky.

The Soldier And P: Separted An Entire Saturn Cycle – Why?

April 28th, 2008 @ 6:16 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

saturnShaina asks on Attraction Theory:

“Do you think that you and the soldier were separated for a whole Saturn cycle in order to make room for the other people you had to learn from?

Just wondering.”

Shaina, that’s a good question on too large for my mind to comprehend though the soldier did comment on this once. Not sure if he still feels this way but some time ago he said he felt we had every chance to be together.

He said he felt perhaps God put us together, gave us each other, gave us real love and gave us every chance to do something about it but we just couldn’t catch on. We were just too young – We took everything for granted, including each other. And we were volatile as hell which he also thought might have been a factor.

Blows the Attraction Theory All to Hell

April 28th, 2008 @ 2:52 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

attraction-candle.jpgI have always been suspect of the theory that like attracts like. I do not deny this phenomenon exists but if it is to be a rule then it should work every time – It should pass every test which it does not.

I have used the example of the heart surgeon who attracts people with bad hearts of the hairdresser who see more then her share of people with bad haircuts to illustrate my idea that people hook up for many reasons, not just because they are like. In fact they frequently come together because they are not alike and this blog is perfect example.

Now I am not an intellectual. I just aren’t although I attract them. For example roughly 30% of my clients are sporting a PhD in something and that has got to mean something.

Voice Of Mars – “The Big Baby”

April 28th, 2008 @ 11:49 am by Elsa

Astrology in real life

mcenroe_4.jpgWe were headed the gym this morning, the soldier popped his new Patty Smyth cd into the jukebox after commenting on her little black dress.

“Too bad she married such a baby,” he said. “Why’d she do that, P? Why did she have to marry that big baby?”

“McEnroe?”

“Yeah, the big whiner. Every time the referees said anything he had throw a tantrum, throw his racket around like some kind of baby having a fit. Why would she marry a guy like that?”

“Don’t know. What you call baby some people might call passion.”

“Passion? What’s that the new PC word for a grown man-baby throwing a tantrum over a call some referee made?”

“Yeah, maybe,” I said.
We got out of the car and grabbed out gym bags. His said Spalding on it.

“This here is a tennis bag,” he said. “Someone says tennis? Is that your game? I’d say, hell no! Croquet. That’s my game.”

On that we went into the gym, The Rhino and P.

She’s Inordinately Honest Except For When She Lies: Astrology-Based Advice

April 28th, 2008 @ 3:44 am by Elsa

Dear Elsa,

I’ve always thought of myself as a very honest person. My opinion is always the honest one, and I’m not one to mince words to spare the feelings of others. Someone’s going to tell them the truth eventually anyway so it might as well be me! So then why is it that I compulsively lie to my significant other in times of uncertainty or defensiveness??

He really caught me off guard with something this afternoon, and I immediately made the situation so much worse by lying about it. Eventually I got around to telling the truth, but the damage is done. And this is not the first time I’ve lied in such a knee-jerk fashion… I just wish I could get a grip!

kramervskramer100307.jpgDear Girlfriend,

This is a really good question and one that astrology can handle succinctly. Your chart does show a primarily honest person, bold and blunt as you describe. But Mercury rules communication and yours is in aspect to Neptune which gives the ability to obscure things (lie) at times, so there you go. But you are not doomed. Aware of this propensity / ability you need only find an alternative way to express this energy and you should be home free.

Now Mercury is innately tricky and Neptune rules illusion and nuance so check out one of the ways Meryl Streep’s uses her Mercury / Neptune combo:

I saw Streep interviewed years ago and she was talking about the movie, Kramer vs Kramer for which she won an Oscar. The movie is about a couple divorcing – There is a child involved and Streep stated that she makes up (Neptune) some fact (Mercury) about every character she plays. Something that is not in the script that only she knows about the character. She feels this gives her performance something extra and I agree.

So in the beginning of this movie Streep is in an elevator waiting to go down having words with Dustin Hoffman who she is about to divorce. And she stated that during the scene she was thinking the thing she had made up for this role which was the fact, the woman never loved the man. Big difference, huh?

So Hoffman is saying his lines and she is saying hers but guess what? She never loved him in the first place and no one knows this but her. Can you see how this is the same energy? I hope you can but if you learn to use your ability in this type way, not only will you not be hurting yourself, your life will be enhanced.

Good luck.

Astrology Today – Rebel Without A Hope In Hell!

April 28th, 2008 @ 3:16 am by Elsa

My eye on the sky

last-great-act-of-defiance.jpgThe Moon escapes Capricorn (and the Cardinal T-square) for Aquarius but I am not sure how much relief it will bring because it’s just so incompatible with the rest of the sky.

It’s a bit like this picture here.

There is just too much reality out there – Period.

My Packed 8th House Talks to His Moon Neptune in Scorpio in the 8th – A Curse

April 27th, 2008 @ 5:46 pm by Elsa

Astrology in real life

ropebridge.jpgThe soldier is showing Vidroid various knots and tying him up per his request. I have been standing by observing and remarked how hard it was for me to fathom a person could have interest in learning all this stuff. The soldier explained it is imperative you know this stuff for mountain warfare… got to be able to make a rope bridge and so forth and I just stared.

A few minutes later I helping him untie knots Vidroid had tied in the rope before these games began and looking at him I felt a deep longing.

Taking a chance I asked him, “Do you miss me?’

“Yes.”

“You miss me even though I am sitting right here?”

“Yes.”

“Me too, what is that?”

“I don’t know – It’s a curse.”

And this is what I mean by primal.
