The soldier and I went to Vidroid’s school today for his birthday party. We also wanted to view his love, Belle, which is all we were allowed.

“Are you going to introduce me?” I’d asked him a few days prior.

“No, mom. Just look at her because I’m too shy.”

She’s cute as all get out of course, they sit right next to each other but what was amazing was Vidroid, who introduced the soldier as his “almost step-papa” at the top of his lungs. And it occurred to me that single parents are rarely this lucky.

Vidroid wants the soldier here baaaaad. He’s got that Aries, raw male energy and I just don’t have much to offer. The soldier however is loaded for bear…

For example tonight they are playing a game called, ‘Bomb, P.” They throw paper airplanes at me; however they are loaded with a penny in the tip that weights them and they actually hit you.

Now they don’t hurt but they do hit and they are annoying…

“Hey,” I said. “What if you take a tooth out with one of those? What if you put someone’s eye out?”

“Great,” the soldier said. “Just think how famous we’ll be on the Internet. We took someone’s eye out with a penny and a paper airplane.”

On that note, I gave up.
