Astrology Today – Maternal Instinct On Steroids

The Virgo Pisces opposition is still very prominent and I have noticed lately that with Mars in Cancer, mothers and their maternal instincts are very much in evidence.

Personally, I have a very strong maternal instinct and with Pluto opposing Mars in Cancer the feelings are not very comfortable here lately. I mentioned this to my friend, Ben who works in the school system and he told me he had a run in with someone’s mother the day before and it was wicked.

Very, very bad time to piss off a mom, I’d say. Do it and expect to come face to face with what they call “coiled up serpent power”.

I’m more being affected by Venus conjunct my moon, Saturn still opposite my moon, and Chiron sextile my Venus.

I’m going to go off and cry now.

I’ve got no maternal instinct (too Saturnine), but I see it all around me, and it’s powerful. Much respect for the mothers.

yeah, but then i feel a little self conscious about going off on someone. like “whoa! where did that come from?”

(and it was a “don’t mess with the kiddos” thing but from the perspective of a teacher. but i have that sixth house moon so it’s a maternal thing, too. and my kid’s education and…. yeah. ok.)

i’m also feeling really cracked. probably all for the good but i’m really missing feeling anchored. afraid i’ll start flailing for stability and pull too hard.

Hey Elsa, I dug something up on the topic of mothers/mothering. The British cooking show host Nigella Lawson adopted the persona of a “domestic goddess,” a curvy, feminine woman who cooks plentiful comfort food for her children, advocate of big home cooked meals. An astrologer said she represents Venus in Cancer. Maybe that explains why I’m obsessed with her for various reasons (http://haikuambulance.blogspot.com/2008/03/nigella-lawson.html)
She grew up rich, the daughter of a Conservative chancellor and married the equally rich Charles Saatchi.

I’m not sure what I think of this. She’s built up the persona of giving to her children and now this. A weird thing for a supposedly fierce mother to do.
