“What do I say?” she asked. “I don’t know what to say.” It was her birthday and she had a big date. So incongruent with all this.

“Well I doubt she has had time to adjust. Just show up and don’t bring a bunch of stuff because it’s too soon for her to have assimilated she’s not going anywhere for more than a month. She just cannot have figured this out probably. She’s only had a day and a half, so don’t go in with a bunch of magazines and books. Too much reality.”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah, I’d just go in and sit down on her bed maybe and say, we didn’t expect this did we? That’s the truth and it’s like saying nothing. She can react however she wants. She might laugh or she can cry or she can tell you how surprised she is or any other thing she may want to. It’s just a way to open the conversation and then just let her say or do whatever she wants and whatever it is, you can respond. Because you can respond to… anything. I mean you know how. You’ve to the emotional sophistication to handle whatever so there. That’s what I’d do. Just go in and let her drive the thing.”

Within 48 hours satori had set up a benefit concert for this girl. She had a venue and 2 performers.

“I think that’s great because now people can participate. Something like this happens, it’s very hard to people detach and pull away. This way they can go to this thing and support her, it will keep them involved. You did her a favor but you also did the people in the town a favor by giving them an opportunity to stay connected – it is inordinately impressive and by the way, happy birthday.”
