Pluto In Capricorn And The Move Towards Governance On The Internet

Astrology in real life

dc snipersIt was HQ who introduced me to the concept of governance on the Internet some years ago and I have become increasingly interested in it myself. I have also become interested in social physics… the science of society and everything I learn on that level is applied on this blog.

Now with an eighth house like mine, I am always aware of resources and I don’t mean money. I am far more interested in the ethereal, energy levels and so forth. I am interested in health as well and I like to see this blog chugging along.

I am the main source of energy that fuels this blog and I am supported by the people who leave comments, send questions and other emails, people who link to this blog or tell others about it.

libraI am sunk by the occasional troll and while 3 years ago I thought the cat fights that would erupt around here might actually be good for business, I no longer believe that. I have learned that trolls sink internet communities all the time and when I figured this out I started to nuke the bastards.

Disagreeing is fine. Hey! I have Libra so I disagree with myself all the time. But running around like the DC snipers is not.

Those two men took random shots at people brought a section of this country to its knees. I won’t have this happen on this blog. I work too hard here; there is just no way I will allow it.

I think the controls that are slowly showing up on the Internet are indicative of Pluto in Capricorn and I wonder what you think about a morph away from the free-for-all that was the Internet?

So what do you think?

1993 was the Year September Never Ended. So maybe it’ll end now. But you know, it’s your show, you can run it any way you want (and you should run it however it suits you to do so), and Congress need not be involved.

I’ve had a journal on live journal for years now and I claim that space as my own. If you want to trash someone or act ugly in any way, go do it in your own corner of the internet. That’s my rule anyway and I think it’s appropriate on any blog. Trolls who invade privately operated blogs are like someone coming into your house and trashing it when you’re having a party.

I think some control is necessary. I think things the battle between the software and entertainment pirates and the industries will be very interesting in the coming years.

Good for you, Elsa, keeping your trigger finger flexible and willing. You are absolutely right. As usual. :-)

I agree with Max too, on the government interference . . . just read this a few days ago regarding an internet site . . . “Second Life was alerted to the fact that it might be in violation of Federal Reserve regulations, as Linden dollars could be construed as competing with U.S. dollars . . .” more/source: http://www.growthstockwire.com/archive/2008/jan/2008_jan_19.asp

Jeeze! As if they didn’t have other worries!

uh! there are few things I hate more than those new controls on the internet. Internet is controlled and policed enough. (like when they say that the Internet is creeping with rapists and pedophiles, when every statistic shows that 90% of those operate into their own families or their own very small circles)
Also, reading everywhere those invites to “report” on others’ contents and websites (so that everyone can become a snitch) gives me the creeps…

to me this trend is a bad sign among other much more tragic bad signs (erosions of liberties, disregard of the Constitution and human rights, rampant cynicism etc).

I didn’t know Pluto was involved in this trend towards more control. I was neutral and curious about it, but now I so fear I am going to suffer under this transit…

Despite this, I also hate trolls, and I agree they should be nuked. The are actually able to destroy one’s will to make community and be out there. It happened to me too.
But trolling is like the most common crime on the internet. And with common crimes you don’t need new laws and regulations, the old ones are good enough.
Every admin has total power on his/her website already: there’s enough there. People should just learn how to use the power they have, is all.

Hell, new laws and regulations never worked against things like Mafia, when old regular laws were enough to fight it, but were never seriously used anyway, because there was no intention to fight it. And it’s still there.

i don’t like autocratic, top-down control for the internet. but i do believe in people policing their own communities or endeavors however they see fit. as in taking responsibility for your own shit, you know?

i run an online community, and we keep the negativity to an absolute minimum. as a result, we have many long-term members who know it’s a safe, friendly place for support. but i wouldn’t want to be in a position where i couldn’t make those decisions for ourselves, either.

I support individuals such as yourself governing their own mini-domains. I *abhor* the idea of government doing it. But I think that’s what we’re going to see happening with Pluto in Capricorn. :(

I’m a die-hard supporter of the 1st Amendment and Freedom of Speech, and I say that nuking Trolls is the best – nay, only – thing to do.

You’re absolutely right. This is your web site, and you have the right to defend it from the trash that people put on the internet. Just because people have the right to free speech doesn’t mean they have the right to spout off whatever they see fit while under your roof.
