And on the Jupiter in Sagittarius Front…
Astrology in Real Life
I frequently masquerade as the soldier. He is in a situation where he can’t make the calls that keep his life running smoothly. I am in the situation where I can, so I am forever calling people up and letting them assume I am him.
I can rattle off his birthday and his phone number. I can rattle off the last four digits of his social security number and on the fact, he has a man’s name?
Well it’s the funniest thing. These days when you call the cell phone company or whatever, you are generally talking to someone in India and his name is unusual enough, they don’t recognize it as male or female. In other cases, I think people do recognize I am giving a man’s name, but they are too PC to say anything. You know. I could be having a sex change!
But today, the gal in the pharmacy was our color and she knew for sure something was up with the name. At first she tried to change the spelling to the feminine version aka Claude and Claudia but when I nixed that, well next thing I knew, I was signing some stuff about privacy. And I just thought this a Jupiter in Sagittarius phenomenon. With all of us from various cultures in closer contact then we have ever been before, things like this happen.
I also think this is the main reason astrology is gaining popularity in the West. We can thank the Indians…
Are you aware of any effects of the big world getting smaller?

Have you ever had a conversation about life with a foreign call taker? It’s very easy to…interesting, too.
I read quite a few blogs of Indian people my age. That makes me feel like the world is smaller.
I went to Croatia this summer, and astrology was casually tossed about everywhere I went (eg. taxi driver ‘Oh you must a Gemini!’)
I met some people I spent a week with and they all knew what they called their ‘underside’–meaning their Moon signs! It was fascinating.
I’ve always felt the world being small. I like James Howard Kunstler’s admonition that when peak oil hits the world will become much larger again. Travel will cost more, we will have more individualized towns and cities. We will have more variety.
I say, bring it on. I love a larger world. More adventure, more to discover, more work to discover it .. which to me, makes it more worthwhile to go discovering and adventuring.
As for the name thing. I am forever grateful that the hippie generation’s younger kids are starting to enter the workforce. Being one of the oldest children of the oldest hippies has meant being the oddball out with a name similar to moonbeam. I am forever thankful that the rest of the odd names are hitting the workforce. I will still be ONE of THE oddest and most distinctive. But it’s a salve on the wound of being not a part of any culture because my parents named me so outside of the mainstream!

For sure, more common social planetary concerns from people all over the globe. But there are negatives too, like this restaurant near where I live is going to put up this huge statue of liberty in its frontage (I´m in Europe) and this level of kitsch I can´t stand!
