Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…

This is hysterical. virgoEr… Structure (Saturn) and perfect your communication (Virgo) to be more appealing.

On writing personal ads, from the TimesOnline:

Formula for a perfect match

“..Actually, your choice of words may not matter as much as you think. And it probably doesn’t matter as much as the magic 70:30 rule. If your ad doesn’t conform to it – with 70 per cent of the ad describing you, and 30 per cent describing your ideal soul-mate – then your doormat is unlikely to be crushed under the weight of replies. Too much about yourself and you risk looking royally self-centered; too little and Guinevere will think that you’re shifty… Read the rest…

On speed-dating technique from BBC News:

Study finds ‘best chat-up lines

“…The most successful lines were ones which were impossible to answer with a simple yes or no, such as ‘What’s your favourite pizza topping?’ and ‘Who would you be if you were going on Stars In Their Eyes?’.

Professor Wiseman said at the other end of the spectrum, the worst chat-up lines included ‘I have a PhD in computing’ and ‘My best friend’s a helicopter pilot’. “ Read the rest…

Anyone else got a tip on how to be successful in these environments?

be yourself. really think about what you do and do not want and articulate that.

i met my husband via my online ad.

one of the things i said is that “i didn’t want someone who’d wear a lance armstrong bracelet, not that there’s anything wrong with that. i just don’t like advertising causes like that.”

also: “i want someone who’d rather climb me than a mountain” – i live in hiker happy seattle! :)

i knew i’d turn off lots of people, but that was my point. you want to weed out the incompatibles from the get go.

be irreverent!

speaking of saturn transiting EVERYTHING I am… :-) I mean.. Saturn and virgo/communication- My roomate’s first language is not english, but she is taking a law class in english, and I edited her last paper, result? the teacher chose her to help several of her classmates with their papers, and when she said that she had help- told her to get whoever helped her on her paper to help her edit these students papers.

which would be me.

astrology: saturn transiting mercury in virgo in the 7th house-which aspects stuff in sag. ie: law/structure/communication/service/roomates/relationship/balance/international

but luckily she’s editing my non-english papers in return. :) and I think I will work out some other trades with people who want their work edited.

yeah, once you’re in the door, don’t agree with everything the other person says or otherwise pretend you’re something you’re not! have an opinion and thoughts of your own; if you don’t know or don’t care about something, say so. you don’t have to be mean about it, just… have a backbone and a personality, damnit. say no once in a while.
