Saturn in Virgo: “Why? Why Do You Do That?”

Astrology in Real Life…

henrySpeaking of Saturn in Virgo, I went to a physical therapist this week to “grow up” my workout. Fact is, I have some torn discs in my back and these things don’t go away. Relatively pain free for several years, I had gotten cocky with my exercise and after this last fiasco I was pretty sure I’ve been damaging my back. I decided I better stop that and I better learn how so I went to this guy to ask him just exactly what I could and could not do.

Meeting with him, I explained that I liked to exercise and did a lot of hijinks. “Matter of fact, my hijinks are extreme,” I said.

And he asked me such an interesting question. ‘Why?” he said. “Why do you do that?”

vidroid and momI had a dozen answers in my head, but I stopped for a few seconds to savor the moment. Because right then I knew this guy and I were exactly opposite. He’s Mr. Safety, don’t hurt you’re body and I just want to jump off a cliff right there that very second, and spin around on the way down for no reason in particular. No good reason that is.

“Well, I guess I like the challenge,” I said. “It makes me happy. It makes me feel better. I like resistance, I like to balance. I like to feel my prowess and I suppose… err, I guess I do it because I’m a freak?”

But I could have just said, “I am Henry’s granddaughter.” And I could have just said, it runs in the family, because that’s my son, there. I have no explanation for why I am allowing him to stand unsupported on the balls of my feet while I snap his picture. No idea at all.

But here’s my question for you: What do you do? And…

Why? Why do you do that?

I have an eighteen year old son; Taurus sun, Leo Rising, Scorpio Moon. He just pulled the motor out of his Go Kart, reassembled it into a shopping trolley accompanied by pulleys etc and a big spool of rope and turned it into a wake board winch which pulls him through the water at about 30km/hr. I am very proud of him. He wants me to have a go….why the hell not???? (Capricorn sun, Cancer Rising, Saggi. moon.)

I’m Mr. Safety. I see possible injuries everywhere. I try not to think of my children on trampolines at all ::cringe::. I suppose it’s my capricorn moon combined with my intensely realistic imagination ::wince::.

My Dad used to do what you’re doing in the photo with your son!
I loved it.

I beat myself up constantly. I mean it. I spend so much time thinking about how I operate in the world, my impulses, etc it fucking exhausts me. I guess it’s a Sun square Saturn issue.
I need to get over myself already and stop *processing*

another thing about my dad doing that: I loved it because I knew that he would do it unless he could pull it off (standing his kid up like that).
I mean, it helped me trust my dad. But Elsa if your back is screwed you need to be compassionate to your body!!

I see I did a lousy job conveying what I meant here – Saturn in Virgo rap on the knuckles!

I meant, “What do you do?” meaning what do YOU do that you might have to defend… not necessarily exercise. I see now this is clear as mud. Duh!

I thought the question was clear enough, I just don’t have an answer for it. The only thing I do that regularly makes people think I’m a freak is go to Weird Al concerts, and I do that because it makes me laugh.

This is slightly off-topic, but I have Sun in a grand trine with Jupiter and Uranus and people tend to think I’m weird even when I’m perfectly normal (Moon in Capricorn, no hijinks!). People see what they want to see, I guess.

I check the boundaries, lean up against that old metaphorical fence post and give it a push see if I can’t get a couple extra inches.

I can goof around for 10 minutes? 10 minutes. . What about fifteen? No oh okay . .12? 13? Oh! Fifteen! what about . . 20!

I can go out in a skirt this short? How about . . This short? What about with this top? Hey hey! What about if I go out all covered up? Can I still attract?

Does this bug you? does this? does this?

Its curiousity (what about this? this? this?) and feeling tied in/down (Want to get ouuuut! How can I get out .. can I get out here?) and a power thing too (How much are you going to take from me?/do for me?).

The other thing is I travel alone. At 18 I went to tennessee on my own, then at 21 I took a 30 day bus pass all over the states, then I went to europe for five months last year and am planning on going to prague in october for two weeks. People always ask how I can do it alone and don’t I get scared and how do I navigate someplace completely strange ect. And I think being alone pales against not going, not getting to see/experience these things. Plus staying put is so boring. And hey! I just want to GOOOOOOOO!
