Dear Elsa,

My Pisces husband and I are expecting our first child in February. I’m concerned about our compatibility with our future child. Is there anything we should watch out for or be aware of?

Hearty congratulations on your baby on the way! No, I don’t think you need to be even one whit concerned with how you’re going to get along with your child. You will be absolutely amazed at how the baby you’re making will fit into the puzzle that is your life. Further, you will wonder how you ever functioned without this person.

Now I in case sound like a Pollyanna, I am well aware there are parents who don’t get along with their kids but that is because they don’t get along, period. They don’t get along with themselves!

It’s apparent from your post that you get along with your husband, which means you get along with yourself. So your baby is going to be nothing but another person you both get along with, so there is no need to worry. However I know the first pregnancy is a terror and you have to worry about something, so here is a replacement worry:

Instead of worrying about whether you will like your kid and them you, worry about how you can love yourself and your husband more than ever before… and be amazed by those results as well.

Don’t worry, Mama! It’s my experience that Scorpios make wonderful parents, and are especially good with children. Two lovely water signs with a sweet little Aquarian? Sounds good to me!

I have a friend, known her since 1974, she is Scorpio and has two kids–one Leo & one Aquarian. Talk about a t-square!!! And in fixed signs, yet! But y’know? She blogs almost daily, has for years. And what she blogs about most is her kids. So much love flows out of those blogs…and this is through all kinds of struggles and crisis they’ve had, too–divorce, poverty, fire & death of loved ones. As a family they have been sorely tested!! Sure, there is plenty of typical drama (kids are kids, y’know? and they are now teens! eek!)–but there is obviously a tremendous connection and they are all quite close, despite being different people.

My own preferred path to being compatible with my own kid (who by Sun sign is NOT supposed to be compatible with me, ha! but the rest of our charts connect like crazy…) is to remember always that 1) love comes first no matter what & 2) she is herself, not me, and that has to be OK. And we are doing fine (mostly, heh). And she too is now a teen. eek!

Congratulations, btw. Just the fact that you care and are awake enough to ask the question means you are on the road to having a good relationship with Jr.
