Oprah Endorsing Cosmetic Surgery? ::Faints::

Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…

oprahThis too much. A chatty newsy breezy look at how to cheat to look good… first off get your breast implants. Hurry, summer’s coming!

This is direct quote:

“It may be cheating, but it works-sometimes and in some people. While there is no substitute to a healthy diet and regular exercise, sometimes we all need a little extra help….”

WHAAAAAAT?

Cheater’s Guide to a Better Beach Body

Here’s some more:

“They’re back-silicone breast implants, that is. And if anecdotal reports are correct, you will likely be seeing more women sporting these bosom buddies surfside this summer…”

Got that? Breast implants are your friend! I feel woozy. What’s wrong with the way we were made? And what’s next? Endorse anorexia maybe?

Shame, Oprah. I am appalled. With Pluto in Capricorn will we be allowed to be real? I live in hope.

How do you feel about all the cosmetic surgery?

This is coming from Oprah? What the heck happened to her? Is she under the Imperious curse or did she get Confunded? (Shamless Harry Potter refference)

Plastic surgery has it’s place – repair damage from accidents, birth defects, etc. But cosmetic surgery is so Pluto in Libra/Leo!! The Pluto in Libra crew has that whole image thing going on. And it’s that whole fear of aging so prevalent in the Boomer population – maybe when more of them complete their Second Saturn Returns, they’ll wake up & realize how unnecessary it is. I hope . . . :)

I was thinking about Pluto in Leo & Libra in another context but the gist is this: how very good Fire & Air are at justifying doing what they want. There is going to be a major wake up call when Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus & Pluto are in Earth & Water (Neptune in Aquarius will be alone in Air)and this will be the case in January ’08!

It’s really gotten crazy while Pluto is in Sagittarius, hasn’t it? When Pluto was in Scorpio, I worked for a Law Firm that defended against the women who got the silicone implants — those were some ugly stories. Apparently the implants had nothing to do the symptoms, though.

I think us Pluto in Virgos just use duct tape. LOL.

I used to say never, but now I would love to have a “little something done.” I was the first to argue about living with what God gave you…but God didn’t make me pack on an extra hundred pounds till I stretched my skin all out of wack. And now that I’ve lost the extra pounds, well, I’d like to look good in my under-britches again!

Neith – fascinating thought! I look forward to seeing this play out. As do I look forward to Pluto in Cappy.

I spent 5 or so years talking my best girlfriend out of breast implants. She got them when I was out of the country. I am still very sad. She seems very happy with them though. It’s been a number of years now.

I think we need to spend more time building up the self-esteem of women instead of giving them ‘shortcuts’ to make them feel better about themselves. I’m all for plastic surgery for people who have gastric bypass surgery to do away with the excess skin flap, reconstructive surgery for people in accidents or born with disfigurements, but if everyone else would just ignore the media hype about what are ‘acceptable standards’ of beauty, we’d be much better off.

Personally, I would never get anything done. I’m at peace with my fluff. :-D

I don’t think planetary positions will change the fact that women are still trapped in a narrow binary of (sexually) attractive – not attractive. Pluto in Cap might change how female attractiveness and sexuality is constructed though. Perhaps with Pluto in Cap, what is considered sexually attractive will be classier and more reserved than the “girls gone wild” brand of objectification we’ve got now. If you ask me, it’s the same shit, different flavour.

I think plastic surgery is a shrewd choice for anyone working in an industry where image really counts. That’s just a practical Capricorn perspective though!

Oh, and could it be Oprah’s people approved that article and she doesn’t know about it?

I have every intention of (someday) having my belly and breasts lifted and tucked. As in, when I’m older and done having my children and am ready to get rid of the sag I’ve acquired by having them. C-sections create a lot of sag, yo.

But though I’ve always been a heavy girl, I have no plans to get lipo to suck out the fat. I dislike my nose, but I’m not about to let someone cut it up.

I think some cosmetic surgery to fix a couple truly distressing problems is ok, and that it’s good to have the technology to be able to repair damage and defects. But there has to come a point when enough is enough! Folks need to accept they aren’t perfect and aren’t going to be, and try to find a way other than surgery of making themselves feel better.

I feel that cosmetic surgery definitely has a place.

I would love it if everyone were just happy with themselves they way they are.

OH MY GOD! This is a story that features a woman recreationally getting cosmetic surgery: http://www.newyorker.com/fiction/features/2007/07/23/070723fi_fiction_nelson

I don’t support cosmetic surgery at all. Implants mess with your body, cause disease.. It is putting a foreign object in your butt or breasts. Botox looks ridiculous and stretches your face until you can barely talk. Both smell of trouble. Also, when they freeze they can look ridiculous, see http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com.
