Saturn Transits, Walk-a-thons, and Character as a Commodity

Astrology in Real Life

dixie cupPeople relate to the goat picture so here’s this from, May 2007 regarding Saturn in Virgo:

I chose the charity walk-a-thon analogy because Virgo is a do-gooder. But I thought I might point out some other things…

For example when you get to one of the water stations along the route, you are given water and nothing more. In a Dixie cup, no less. Not much is it? There is no foot rub, no applause, no massage and no one fawning over you. Just the bare minimum you need to keep going, water and a perhaps a smile or slight word of encouragement.

But as is the case with all things Saturn, once you accomplish something like this it cannot be taken from you.

To this day I can say, hey! I walked 20 miles for MS when I was 6 years old (with Henry). And because we did this every year for at least 5 or 6 years I have always known that if I had to walk 20 miles, I’d be able to do it. And if I can walk 20, I am sure I could walk 40 because all it would be is more of the same and I have proven my ability to persevere.

And then someone comes along to tell me I suck and I get to think, whaaat? I don’t suck. I can walk 20 miles in the sun without a blink, you foolish fool!

Or to quote my sister, a Capricorn rising dancer, once some gal with a privileged background was condescending towards her because of her late start in training. “Excuse me? I broke my back and I can still dance better than you,” she said. And it was a fact.

Don’t mess with a Capricorn who has paid their dues, that’s all I can say. Character is one heck of a commodity and I only know of one way to get any.

How did you earn your character?

Work. Work has given me so much although it’s been a trial my whole life. Worked since I was 15 (12 if you count babysitting) and I would be nowhere if it wasn’t for every single job I’ve had since then. I have Saturn in Virgo in the 6th.

Most of my contacts, relationships, life lessons, were learned through work up until now and probably will be for years to come. I guess maybe I’ll know the definite answer to this question once Saturn finishes it’s thing in Virgo.

I grew up on a small family farm where sitting around loafing was not an option. We all had our chores, like milking cows by hand, that were year in, year out, regardless of the weather. That life is largely gone now but those lessons have stayed with me even though there was lots of mumbling at the time . . . :) My Sun has progressed into Capricorn this past year and that has changed the way I experience the Earth sign transits a LOT! Good thing with Saturn moving into Virgo in September & Pluto into Capricorn.

I’ve been in and out of the fire since I was in utero, but most mistake me for brand new. they usually find out the hard way.

it started with running cross country.
oh, and dealing with my peers.

didn’t really start kicking in until my saturn opposition though. the first square just knocked me silly.

i did far better with the return than either of the squares. makes me wonder how i’ll handle that square coming up in a handful of years…
