“Well if they’re lucky they will learn some astrology,” I said, regarding the Special Forces types who lurk here. “Actually, they won’t be able to help but learn some astrology. So anyway, I have to be careful what I say if I want to preserve the puzzle,” I said. I can’t use your name(s) in any form for example, considering how you love to yell and announce your name to anyone and everyone all over the world.”

“Yeah, I do like to do that. I love to tell people my name and I did announce it all over the world.”

“I know. God, do I ever know. So I can’t say anything to do with your names. Not even a single initial. And I can’t say where you’re from, that’s for sure. But listen. What if I were to tell them you were the best soldier in the world? And point out this is quantifiable,” I said.

“Well I was the best soldier in the world, P. And it is quantifiable. I was the best soldier on this entire planet for sure. And I’d have like to be the best soldier in the universe if such a thing existed. I’d be the best soldier in the galaxy and anything else that might exist out there. If there is a fight in space, I’m going to fight in space. No one is beatin’ me P. I will not be beaten. If I want to win, then you’re going to lose and that’s all there is to it,” he said with a chuckle.

I laughed. “I know, I know. Listen to you boast! But do you hear what I am saying? If I say you were the best soldier in the world, would they figure out who you are? Because that would rule out a lot of people. At that point you would be a party of one. I’d have narrowed you down to one person, seems to me.”

“Yep, that’s right,” he said. “The best is the best and there is only one best.”

“But even if I narrow you down to one, I’m not sure they’d figure it out. If a person can’t think through their own ego, this will remain a puzzle! You will still be a mystery so that’s a tasty prospect to me. Tell them who you are and they still don’t know who you are! Hah! And even if they can think through their ego, I still don’t know if they can figure this out.”

He didn’t comment.

“See, I don’t know anything about the military,” I said. “Outside of the fact I have lived in a male barracks,” I said with a snort. “And I have been other military places I do not belong,” I said, gleefully. “Just because I have done that does not mean I know anything about the military because I don’t.”

“No you don’t.”

“Right. I don’t know anything about rank or anything else. Private as in Private Benjamin. I know Gomer Pyle and that’s about it, except for you.”

“Uh huh.”

“So considering this I don’t know if I write, this guy is the best soldier in the world, and it’s quantifiable, will anyone know what that means? Will they? Does every military person in world know what that means, or is it an obscure thing most people don’t have awareness of? I have not idea and I don’t want you to tell me. I’m just telling you this is what I have been thinking about lately. Because I would kind of like to tell people you are the best soldier in the world at this point,” I said with laugh. “For their entertainment! Because it’s true and because it’s rare. And anyone who’s followed my saga this long deserves to know something like this. They should know they are dealing with a freak, I mean.”

“I’m a freak all right.”

“Yeah. You’re actually beyond belief except for the fact you’re here and you’re real. And it is another little quirk for me too.”

“What’s that?”

“The fact I don’t know anything about the military, but I know everything about the best soldier in the world.”

“You do, P. That you do.”

I just laughed. “Life doesn’t get any stranger. How does someone like me wind up knowing someone like you?”
