Help A Libra Decide… Please, Pretty Please?
Astrology in Real Life
I’m always complaining about my Libra because I have such an incredibly hard time making decisions. “I have Libra and I can’t decide shit,” is the way I put it. Please don’t ask me where I want to eat. If you have a heart in your body you will just pick a place because if you wait on me to decide we will both starve.
And now my hair lady is retiring. And I have known this was going to happen for six months! But does this mean I know where I am going to go have my hair done? No. Because guess what? I can’t decide!
And when I do decide, the decision comes undone when all the sudden I see the other side of what I decided.
For example, I had my new hair lady all picked, but when I was leaving my regular salon on Saturday after my last appointment with my regular stylist on her last day … well everyone in the place offered to do my hair.
“Which one of us are you going to come to?” asked 7 stylists.
“Oh. I was going to go somewhere else,” I said, a little sheepishly.
“Somewhere else? Why would you do that?”
“Oh. Well I was in the gym… I had come out of the shower and this gal came up and started communing with my hair. She liked my hair. I guess she didn’t know it was curly naturally, so I don’t know. She was touching it. She seemed to like my hair, said she was a stylist and since Julie was retiring, I figured it was a sign or something.”
“We like your hair…”
::smiles::
And then Julie pipes in. “Yeah. Why don’t you give one of these girls a try? Anyone in here can do your hair. They’re all good…”
And she’s right. I have never seen a bad head go out of there… ever.
“I don’t know what to do,” I said, honestly. Haplessly.
“You can try everyone in here once, if you like,” someone said.
I laughed nervously. Can you imagine the public relations nightmare if I had to reject someone and then someone and then someone?
But fact is, the new gal I was (am?) going to go to will probably be twice as expensive and will have to go out of her way to get my color. All the stylists in my current salon use my color line which is rare in this area. It’s from Italy and only carried by one supplier, 45 minutes away. Plus, if I don’t like my hair… well, I will have to reject the new stylist and she goes to my gym.
On the flip side the new gal is young, fresh, and an exuberant sort of backwards-ball-cap-wearing, boygirl with energy coming out her ears. She is super confident and exudes talent.
However, my regular salon knows me! I have been going there for years, and they will schedule a manicure while my hair dyes, getting me in and out which I love.”
See what I mean? I can’t decide this!!!
What would you do?

Oh my goodness what you posted is the absolute truth. I wish I could help but I am a Libra too! Worse yet so is my husband and my mother! Aughh!!!
)
voting for salon you know due to rarity of hair color you use and the relationship… if all you’re looking for is a change, who’s to say you won’t get it with other people in the salon? besides the new girl HAS to be confident to sell herself…
Stay with your salon. (I’ve gone to 4 different stylists at mine, and I don’t have that much Libra.) If you must, write down everyone’s names, then close your eyes and pick one, open your eyes and go with that person!
from a hairdresser…go to the same place. Use any stylist available to your schedule and let them deciede. If they all know you then you can leave it to them.
You MUST have your hair colored at the salon where you have always been going. Color is critical. There is no need to decide which stylist does the color. This is a great opportunity….just call the next time that you need your hair done and say….I really need my hair colored (you say day, time) which one of you have a opening then? Fate will decide that each time for you. Let the girl at the gym trim your hair for you ever so often so that you don’t hurt her feelings. I’m a Gemini blessed with Libra friends.
Elsa if your salon really loves you, they will take you back if the new girl doesn’t pan out.
Give your usual a break and try something new–you just may like it. It’s really easy to go back when you have good relations with people. Then you can say ‘Oh whoever’s free!’ when they ask you who you want to do your hair and look super non-contoversial.
Okay, thanks. So it’s unanimous. And Tam, they suggested the same thing. “Just tell her you are going to color your own hair.” ::laughs:: I would never! But they said the new girl might be mad if I went somewhere else for color. Oh the pain!
See, I already told the new girl I was coming. I knew she would have to get the color (so did she) but I did not know there was only one supplier in town.
The supplier will deliver for a charge and that is what my salon does since they all use it exclusively. Colorly by It&ly this is… which if you have dark hair, you ought to be using.
because if you think about it… look around out there. The shades of black hair are horrendous in many cases. Mine is ROCK. I am sorry I am vain, but it is. And when I see these other women with their hair dyed black looking horrible, well I just think, “Never me”.
Used to use Framesi which is not longer available here, but the Colorly line is even better actually, so this is my tip for the dark haired gals out there.
Also, I learned this the very first time I colored my hair. Some gay guy was here… just in from LA. He didn’t want to color my hair at all “with this crap they use,” he said. This was in a Saks, by the way.
He told me if you have dark hair, the Italians understand. He warned me to never ever let anyone put anything on my hair that did not come from Italy and I… listened!
kashmiri – just saw your comment. You’re right and they said the same thing. I just hate to run this girl across town for the color though too. I had no idea when I committed to go her that she could not just pick it up wherever she usually gets her stuff. So it is more problems. I don’t like being high maintenance!!
Try the new girl. What is she a Pisces? “…communing with my hair.” sounds Piscian to me.
Isn’t your old stylist a Pisces? I think it is serendipitist you running into this girl in such an odd way just when you need a new stylist. This is a very Neptunian situation here.
And trying new things and places keeps us young. I think this new girl will be good for you, a change of air, a new beginning. And being consumate diplomats defines Libra so you’ll have no trouble telling this girl that you like to be in and out when you go to the Salon.
My vote is for the new girl!
I vote for the same place. I’d go to the new girl once so she could use the product the bought specifically for me, and tell her in advance I’d continue in the old salon and tell her why.
About rejecting the other stylists in the old salon, I might go to one, taking the advice about trying them all and if I like that one, just continue going to her/him, and that way I wouldn’t reject anyone else. Or just go to anyone there, since they are all good, whoever is available at the time I go. But that’s me, I never shedule things like that. I hope it helps..
My old stylist is a double Gemini, from England who has done hair since she was 14! She is now in her 60′s!! But very young… sort of a flip card who has men chasing her constantly. She travels all over the world and in fact one of her lovers put a salon in her home where is still going to do hair but it is far for me and I am trying to let go.
The new girl is a gym rat and the opposite of me in all ways, except for we are both very happy. We both use the crosstrainers, with these shit eating grins, but I do mine on level 20, artfully and girl like, a deep burn, while she is very “energizer bunny”, working out a million miles a minute with sweat flying and a her backwards ball cap.
She also wears headphones and laughs manically at times at I have no idea what, and although I have always liked her, I try not to get on a machine next to hers because our energy is so opposite.
So when she started in with my hair, I thought about this… I definitely think she could cut the hell out of my hair since she thought it so interesting. But I also thought our opposite energies. Would it be good or bad? Who knows. I do know I like boy/girl women in general and she is very VERY happy and upbeat.
On the other hand (Libra) she is a hard sell. She was selling me products right there in the gym which is…. well I feel like I have to deflect that. So it’s a bit like having your hair done by a really great puppy, I think. Will they settle down? Because she is hyper as hell.
Now the gals in my regular salon, none of them are like this. There is only one gal who is not old… the manicurist who also does hair. I would probably go with her first because she does my nails, and because she needs the customers and the money… she is trying to get back to work, mother of 4 kids, 3 or them Aries, so God help her.
Problem is she is decidedly un-stylish, not that a ball cap is stylish but you know. You can just tell that first girl is current and cutting edge.
She is also tentative which… well I am not used to that. I am used to someone who has been cutting hair for fifty years and knows exactly what she’s going to do as soon as she sees your head.
::sighs::
See? This is hard.
The other stylists don’t have much energy, and the salon itself needs a face lift however, they really have never seen a bad head leave there.
Gah.
I was thinking like you, Simstim. That the universe threw her in my path. But now I am not so sure. The color being inconvenient is a big deal. It explains why went I call around looking for someone who uses it, the prices are always really high. My regular salon is very reasonable and this is a factor. I am not in a position to double the cost of my hair care, and fact is she either has to drive and get it or pay them to deliver it…. and it’s not like she can buy a quantity when I have not committed, less she be stuck with it.
Damn Julie! I am happy for her but crap! Look at this hell. And I have had 9 months to decide. And the worst:
No matter what I do, everyone will tell me “no problem”! And they’ll mean it! Which means this is pure Libra suffering. And I just don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
The only thing you should care about is if your hair looks the way you want it to. I say ask her for her birth details…sounds like a Gemini to me.
I haven’t read all the replies, but I have plenty of experience with hair and salon issues. (I have very challenging hair and only a truly skilled hairdresser can handle it.)
Stay with the salon you know. Ask your old stylist for a recommendation, or else call the salon on the sly and ask which of their stylists does best with your kind of hair.
For example… I have long, uber-thick n’ heavy, straight hair. I ask for a stylist that’s good with that kind of hair. That way they don’t send me to someone who’s good with blondes with thin, wispy-fine hair, nor do they give me someone who’s best with curls. It works, really. The people running the salon want you to be happy with your hair, so in a good salon, they will help you find the right hairdresser.
Oh wow – had you not copped to it, I’d never have known (from the few pics I’ve seen) that you color your hair. A – friggin’ – mazing stuff! I was all set to say “try the new chick” … but man, it’s your hair, which is amazing and wonderful and well … I can’t believe I’m saying this, stay with the place you go now.
Good luck!
i’m chicken about change (esPECially hair-change), so i’d stay where they know me, and where they stock my product. there is so much trauma with changing stylists – i feel for you.
i’d be uncomfortable with being “sold to” at the gym. and honestly, that would probably put me off. i’d just say i’d hate for her to have to go out of her way, and stick with what i know.
I hate that. I have a problem deciding something, anything as well. When I finally do decide to decide, it’s been so long that the facts have changed and I have a new set of things to decide about. It’s very, very frustrating, and I can tell it irritates those around me. I usually have to wait until some peak moment before I can say for sure something will happen, but even then, after it’s over… I’m going to consider the other direction.
Personally, I’d go with the cheapest, least tedious option, though. I wouldn’t mind getting someone else to do my hair or otherwise trying someone different for a while but not if it’s going to cost me extra or bother anyone to do it.
I think I would stay at the salon for one very simple reason – Mosta. Recently you blogged about last-minute changes to dental appts, etc. if she is sick that day. If you have an appointment at the salon, they can usually have SOMEONE free later that day or the next day or whatever, if you need to reschedule. With the new girl, it’s just her, right? Or does she work at a salon as well? What would you do if you had to reschedule? Would you be able to, on short notice?
Here’s another idea, if she is a free-lancer. Maybe she could work “on commission” at your salon. She can pay a fee to do your hair there, using the products that your salon keeps in stock, and if you have to cancel an appointment once in a while, then someone else at the salon can do your hair if she’s not available. The salon can get the benefit of having a young, fresh voice around, and maybe learn some new things and attract new young stylists. It could be a win-win-win situation.
As a PS, I remember the first posting I read on Very Modern astrology – it was about an impromptu demo haircut you got at a mall, and you were talking about how your Uranus needed to make a change or something. I was hooked from that first post. So, thank you!
