The Gal With The Hot Moroccan Guy – Is He For Real?

Ask The Collective

moroccoRegarding this morning’s blog about the woman being wooed by a man in Morocco… it’s kind of nice to see the international community show up like this:

EuroYank suggested:

“…You are a meal ticket and a way to get into the USA, and Muslim treat their women to obey and live for them, unless he is an outcast.”

And then Hans showed with a different perspective:

“It’s perfectly possible to make such a thing work… if you are careful and are willing to make sacrifices…”

And he explains his credentials for offering this opinion:

“I am from the Netherlands, but I have been living in the US for 5 years now with my American wife (and her children). We met online in 1998.”

He goes on to say:

“While there is certainly a possibility that this person is looking for a “meal ticket”, as somebody mentioned, we don’t know this for sure, and it’s up to the poster to judge that. I know that *I* certainly didn’t come to the US with ulterior motives – the standard of living is lower here than where I’m from.”

So what do you think? Is the Moroccan boyfriend a gold digger or is he really in love?

I agree that it’s hard to tell. He might very well be a goldigger, but he is also young and he might truly be in love. I don’t think we have enough information. Either way, I think that Elsa’s advice was good bc it focused on the woman, who might not be completely over her most recent relationship either way.

Exactly, Marly. No one can say what the motives are from either end….hers or his. Is it possible to “love” someone over the internet or phone? I do not think so. Is it possible for two people to love each other from divergent cultures and backgrounds. Yes.
Is it possible for an “older” woman and “younger” man to have a committed and loving relationship? You bet.
My husband is from Europe and 14 years younger.
He had just turned 24 when I met him. I was 38.
5 years later we are still together in every way.

What if we were told tomorrow with complete confidence and proof that there is such a thing as reincarnation? That would make our souls very ancient and our present age would mean little other than to date our current life experiences.
We would very likely connect to people we had known in prior lifetimes…for whatever reason.

If this is likely then why would it matter about age or cultural background? Men have been marrying women young enough to be their daughters and no one seems to blink when it happens.

All this said I find it highly unlikely to know if you want to spend the rest of your life with someone based on electronic communication.

I think that there’s no way for us to know the truth, the only person who could know this is the Moroccan, and he may not even know completely. Is this any worse than mail order brides though? Thats the question I pose. At least he’s been in communication with the woman he is trying to marry.

Jamie, what a great story!
I prefer to think this Sag woman is so fabulous anyone could fall hard for her–now that’s my neptune conjunct venus talking!

I agree with strawberry fields; we just have to let things unfold!

and for the question from Jamie: “Is it possible to “love” someone over the internet or phone?”

I think it is, if you’re an aquarius.

Oh, good one, 123!!! I love it!
“and for the question from Jamie: “Is it possible to “love” someone over the internet or phone?”

Hmmmmm…..You have something there,123. If there is such a thing as telepathy and psychic knowing then of course an Aquarian would be very “tuned-in” electronically.
I read a story last week about a business man from in his early 50′s who met a woman from South America over the Internet. They were carrying on an electronic romance when he decided to sell everything he owned and move to South America to be with his “love”. He was found dead several days later. It seems his dream girl had him murdered so that she could have his money all to herself. It is stories such as these that would make me want to meet, face to face, the person I was declaring my affection for even if I had the psychic powers of Nostrodamus.
I suppose there is a lesson learned in situations such as this that have to do with self deception and superficiality.
Perhaps a strong Aquarian chart does have the edge over all other Signs when it comes to tuning in electronically to other people’s energies. A good point to ponder.

I think that’s a great point to ponder, too, Jamie. Me? I need to be in someone’s “stream”, as I call it. By this I mean that I need to be in someone’s presence; sometimes just being next to someone, even without touching that person, can give me a lot of information. I will feel his moods/thoughts, even, as if I were swimming in a body of water. This is why I call it a stream. I’m learning how to handle my Pisces Moon/Virgo Pluto opposition by combining the “intuitive” element with the “discerning” element (as opposed to the blindly accepting and the harsh judgmental parts of that polarity). But the only way I can do this is by meeting someone personally.

The people who have betrayed me the most severely and with the most serious repercussions were all people ‘right here, in the flesh’. Intimates.

And I have strong Aquarius in my chart.

Exactly, Marly! I must be in someone’s “stream” to be able to assess (accurately) their energy…. and intentions. I have a water Moon also conjunt Neptune in an Angular house and it is involved in a Midpoint….so I read people all to loud and clear…..whether I want to or not. While I can read over the phone and the energy of one’s writing style I prefer to give them the benefit of my doubt (Jupiter) before I jump to any serious conclusions (this is what get’s me in trouble). So personal contact is very important for me to make an intelligent and informed assessment of character.
Personally, people who get involved via the Internet scare me. There seems to be a lot of Uranus and Neptune involved in the transaction which scares the bejeezus out of my Saturn in Aquarius! I guess I need to work on my Saturn…..and Jupiter.

I am in love with a morocan musician. but he doesnt want to leave his village in the mountain. i love his family and lifestyle. but i feel reluctant to move and live with him, and give up my job and everything in the uk. I guess at the end we will have to break up.
