Single Mother For 14 Years – Now Her Son Is Leaving For College: Double Cancer, Venus In Taurus
Dear Elsa,
I have spent the last 16 years raising my son. He’s a fine young man and that’s not just my opinion. My question is: since I have been single now for 14 years and my life has been about my son and raising him, how do I let my “walls” down and let someone love me again?
My son will be going off to college soon. I am very lonely and need some advise on where to start with my life.
Please help!
Very Lonely
Dear Lonely,
I appreciate that you are terrifically frightened but this is going to be easier than you think. And you probably find this hard to believe when you think about it on a personal level but the fact is, nature abhors a vacuum.
And with your son leaving, that is what is setting up. There is going to be a big huge void in your life. But it’s not going to stand. You are afraid it is going to stand but this is a fear that has absolutely nothing to do with reality in the future.
You have these fears, but I would be enormously surprised if they manifested. You think you’re going to be alone when he leaves, but it may play exactly opposite that. He may leave and you may look around… hesitate a couple days and then go wild! You know. WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!!!
Because the fact is you have been suppressing a lot for a very long time. And even if you are not especially proactive (don’t be afraid to throw an ad up on Match.com), eventually the universe will fill this void because this it’s a law of nature. So this is my advice:
Don’t feed your fears. In fact, do just the opposite. Expect the universe in its infinite grace to deliver exactly what you need. And for the record, I’m not worried about you at all. You wrote me, didn’t you? You are already reaching out and you clearly have some mighty fine love. I don’t think you’re going to have problem one, finding a man. And as soon as he plugs in, you’ll fire right up. Seriously. You’re dormant, not dead.
Good luck.
